Thank you thank you for making easy to change tensioner and belts

You’re doing it the hard way bro, there’s a trick that’ll help u out. On the tensioner (fan belt side) where the 1/2” ratchet would go....there’s 2 holes....one above and below the center torx bolt. Pull back on the tensioner (fan belt side) and insert a long bolt (maybe 5” or so on the top hole) and it’ll hold the tensioner back for you to remove & install the new belt. For the alternator belt, don’t use the backside 1/2” opening with a 3” extension....use the fan belt side with a 5” extension and it’ll pull the tensioner all the back for u to insert another 5” bolt (on the bottom hole) and it’ll hold the tensioner back for u to remove/install the new belt. That’s why they have those 2 holes and when u look at the new tensioner, you’ll see the curved moldings that the bolt uses to hold the tensioner back. That’s a trick we use at my shop. Now on the 2020s with a Detroit, they changed the tensioner design entirely so the fan belt side pulls the tensioner for both belts (which are smaller by the way). You don’t need to use ^^^^ that trick anymore. Pin this comment so your subscribers can see it.

Very informative 👏 - I've used a similar method to remove car transmissions on tri five Chevy's solo using 5" bolts with heads cut off for mounting studs to slide the trans off and on strapped to a floor jack shimmed up with wood blocks Hourly shop rates are so high, just got to improvise when we can in a safe and timely manner 👍
