Great video! Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for as I prepare to replace the u-joints in my 96 Dodge Ram 1500. It only has 65000 miles on it but many of them were plowing in 4wd. That mileage also means it sat around doing nothing for long periods of time accumulating rust. I am attributing the bad u-joints to that and also assuming it will not be easy to remove the old. I guess I should also be prepared for a wheel bearing replacement as well. Thanks again!

Glad I could be of help! Yeah wheel bearings go out on these trucks frequently. I would definitely replace it

My son and I are changing the u joints on his F350. Hasn’t been fun, they were all toast and we needed to get a new double cardan ball and seal. Plus it was freezing rain today and the parts didn’t match up LOL. Good fix, wish we would have done this in the summer.

The bolts are 9/16 not 15mm that's why it rounded off and you had to beat a 14 on but other than that thanks alot helped me a bunch

Thanks. Getting ready to restore a 99 1500 Quad-Cab with 300k on it. Needs a complete front end rebuild in order to take it off-road again, and been trying to figure out how much I can do on my own, versus sending to the mechanic. Might need some bigger tools in the 1/2 drive range, but looks like something I can tackle given time and patience.

Hey brother, so I have a 94 1500. It's 4x4 but the front part is disconnected. The housing was cracking. But recently I've had to change the wheel bearings twice on my passenger side. I replaced the whole hub assembly both times. Both bearings were blown. The second one, literally on the test drive. They both burst while I was backing up. Could it be the Ujoints?
@NoPaintGarage3 жыл бұрын
Maybe, I've never heard of that happening

@@NoPaintGarage I got it all fixed up brother. All new Tie rods, new sterring stabilizer, new axel nuts, new axel shaft. I had lost the spacer for the axel nut, and both the axel nut and threads on the spindle were stripped. Tool me two days, an extra because I thought it was a center link and had to wait for the part, took it it home and realized it was the stabilizer. Anyways, thanks for replying man. It took some head scratching but I figured it out. Probably saved me 1000 by doing it myself. Only costs me about 600 in parts or so.

@@waydebaker33 I replaced my iac not long ago. Pretty easy. Two little torqs bolts and the connector. At the back of throttle body. My transfer case blew up and left me stranded about a week ago. I'm looking for a transfer case now. My truck is a 5 speed so it's a little harder to find the transfer case for that than an Auto one.

@@NoPaintGarage Nice. Sorry to hear about your transfer case. If you're anywhere near San Diego, A+B truck dismantling is the place to go. I literally just left their warehouse yesterday, and they have it. I promise they do. Multiples of it.

Have none of you guys ever heard of a ball joint press, an arbor press or a hydraulic press? You should never hammer a ujoint in, ball joint presses are free rentals from auto parts stores and when u put these parts back together u should use copper neversieze,, not the aluminum cause the aluminum will oxidize from the road salt
