You need to press in the caliper piston and then insert them into the bracket. You might want to apply some grease to the metal slides to allow them to move freely.

You might be able to. Usually there are a couple of bolts that hold them in place. I have seen them sandwiched between the knuckle and the hub on some vehicles though.

There should be a bleeder on the caliper somewhere so that you can bleed the system.

Again 1 A Auto, thanks for the video. I replaced my front shoes today. However I went a little further than just pads. I also replaced the inner hub seals and repacked the wheel bearings. I was disappointed to find that the void in Hub was empty. What little wheel bearing grease that was in the bearings had long since worked its' way OUT of the bearings, leaving them with little lubrication. Luckily they are still serviceable. The grease cap that covers the spindle nut was also empty. So I washed the bearings out and repacked them. I packed the hub and end cap full with grease and put everything back together. I went for a test drive and found that my brakes were again 100%.

I just replaced both front rotors, calipers, and pads on my 97 GMC 3500. One rotor had been dragging pretty bad, so much that it had worn the pad out and ruined the rotor. I have been told that the reason it did this was because the brake line is bad and will not allow the fluid to go back into the master cyl. Is this true and is it a common problem on GM trucks?

Thanks Mike. Since you are knowledgeable on the 96 tahoes with 5.7 vortec's, I had a question. My 96 tahoe is not shifting correctly, but only has trouble seeing the gears after I come to a stop. When I first take off it shifts fine, once I brake, it can't see the gears without restarting, then it repeats. Any thoughts like vaccuum lines or tranny clutch or something else? Has anyone ever heard of this before or is this common. Mine has about 280k mi as well...thanks. Stranded Mom in Arizona :(

If you haven't changed the transmission fluid and filter in some time, you may want to start with that first. A clogged filter or a piece of debris floating around in the fluid may cause your transmission to do this. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

You did not show how the seals/bushings go in if reusing the calipers. In the Haynes manual for these it shows calipers just like these (and mine on mine 99 ) being removed but then shows a different type caliper with narrow flanges when it shows the seals etc, which differ then what's on this type...
