This video shows you how to install a lower control arm with ball joint on your 2006-2011 Chevrolet HHR. Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. I got 74 ft/lbs on that vertical bolt, then i went to do the 180 degree turn and your slid, but mine i could only get a little more than 90 degrees before it felt like the bolt would snap. So i backed it off a little and retightened a little less. (About 90 degrees) Don’t know why its different. If you have insight, share please.

The rear bolt on my front control arm just spins. Is the frame threads stripped? Is there any way to fix this? I took it to a mechanic to fix and I know they broke it.

That lift always makes the job easier to get to but I don't have a car lift I have jack stands

Awesome video, but I will say whoever designed this dumpster fire of a car should never be allowed to engineer ever again, any form of maintenance is a headache to deal with because if the car’s ugly ass shape, a 10 minute job ge comes a 30-60 minute job because everything is poorly engineered

is there a version where you use measurements like guten tight or taught like a tiger? lol. But in all seriousness, how important is it to use torque or specific torque measurements, because I can't afford a mechanic for this and simultaneously don't have a torque gun, just good ole breaker bars and socket wrenches.

I can’t stress enough, soak those rear bolts with penetrating oil and do not use an impact tool, that reduces the chance of spinning the cage nut loose. I in a road salt rust belt . So, yes I’ve seen a few bolts seized

I though you always torque when there is load on the suspension. Not when it is up in the air.
