Thanks! I have a 99 Suburban with this setup. I have done tons of brake jobs on sports cars so I thought it would be a super quick 30 minutes job, then I saw the way the rotor looked and was like.....wait a second....this video saved me a lot of time trying to figure it out blindly.

Don't forget to clean the new rotor with brake cleaner. Rotors are costed with oil to prevent rust. Otherwise you might foul the brake pads.

Nice job, but you shouldn't let the caliper hang on the hose, hang it with some wire, rope or bungee and always use a new cotter pin...

Mike,I am in the process of changing out my rotors on my 1999 Safari, the inner contact area of the drivers side rotor is all rusted and only partially worn, what causes that? Pads are worn evenly,lifetime warranty on the pads, did I forget to remove all the grease or whatever it is the new rotors are covered in when new? This is the second time I am doing this, I bought this van with 40 k miles,it now has 125k. Thanks PS : passenger side rotor was worn evenly,no rust on contact area, pads are worn down but not to metal.

I thought you weren't suppose to use a new bearing with an old race, or vica versa... get an old race out what do you recommend?

can you help me? i have a gmc safari 1995. Im not sure which brakes to order. Those you show in the video or brakes with just a rotor. (whre the rotor and the bolts are seperated)?
@dimitri138 жыл бұрын
+J4zn The RWD model has a rotor/hub assembly in the front, where the rotor has the bearing inside. The AWD model has a plain rotor (no bearing).

If anybody is needing to know how to change a idler arm on a 89 Chevy , I've got the video on my channel. Step by Step tutorial with a 12 minute clip. very simple and easy to understand

Is this the same wheel bearing assembly for the AWD ? Thx
@dimitri138 жыл бұрын
+Ken ded The AWD model doesn't have a rotor/hub setup in the front. The rotor is separate from the hub.

Why isnt their a video of replacement on a 99 safari 2wd rear baring an hub assembly ,

Manual says for final torque to finger-tight the nut, not snug with a wrench. And it is done when a wheel is on a truck. Sure, there will be a little play, but that is the design
@bigfoot19676 жыл бұрын
Not a bad video but you need to say don't hang the caliper by it's line to tie it up to keep from tearing the rubber hose .
