As a wise old man once told me, "If it moves grease it, if it doesn't paint it." Lol

Some years ago my Dad was doing a brake job on his 1992 F150. While he was at it he was going to re-grease his wheel bearings. When he saw the "Japan" on his bearings he refused to put them back in. He went to the parts store and bought some Timken, made in USA bearings. A few years later I bought the truck, and many thousands of miles later I decided I needed new bearings. I tried to find Timken, made in USA bearings, but couldn't find them. I finally got them online from a bearing supply company in Michigan. They were able to get the Timken made in USA bearings but they told me that even Timkens are made in several countries, including China.

Not to be rude but your dad was an idiot. Japanese metal works manufacturing has some of the worlds best tolerances and high quality of metals. It is so precious to the Japanese to have such high quality that most automotive parts like bearings and valves are made in tiny little shops with men who spent their lives mastering that parts creation. Even the Japanese mass produced parts like that have the forge molds checked for tolerances every 5 to 10 parts.

@@cenexes12 That was very rude but my Dad was a very, very good mechanic. People brought cars to him that other mechanics couldn't fix. and he was not a pro. But his objection to the Japanese bearings had nothing to do with their quality. He was a young man during WW2, and he like many people of that era despised the Japanese. Over the years he mellowed some but not much. Was that prejudicial, racist? Probably but that is the way he felt about it. I inherited that truck and was replacing brakes and decided to replace those old wheel bearings. There they were, Timkens, made in USA. So, I was looking for bearings made in USA. I did find them from a bearing supplier in Michigan, but they told me even Timken bearings were now manufactured in several different countries. That truck my Dad had also had a transmission made by Mazda. :o)

In switzerland when we replace wear and tear parts we prefere chinese parts over US Made. Since about 10 Years the quality of US made parts is crap... even made in mexico parts hold up longer and are more reliable than US Parts. Still love the US and its cars, put you guys seriously need to step back from ypur high horse and have to accept that the asian parts are often times better than yours.

Really didn't wanna get my camera greasy by moving it around. Plus I was using a still image camera so I could not see exactly what I was shooting. I thought it was in frame but I saw it wasn't when I reviewed it. And really didn't wanna do it again.

I got a question . you had to remove the back bearing with seal from rotor . what if you remove the rotor and the back bearing is stuck to spindel? Is that a bad sign of something? And if you install it like that will it cause damage?
@GeraldGamble

Yes it will not go on very easy. And more than likely you will have to c change the spindle

Tighten it good and snug. Then back it off just a bit until the bearings are able to spin with a very small amount of drag

Can I just buy the whole hub assembly and not have to do all this? Or does it not work that way
@GeraldGamble

No. Not on the square chevy s-10 / gmc s-15, but these are very inexpensive, 40 dollars for everything to do both sides.
