My wife took our 4runner in for an alignment today and the shop said they couldn't do it because the upper control arm was bad. They quoted her $290.83 for the part and $110.17 for labor. No way! Thanks for this great video, so I can easily do it myself. This is one of the best how-tos I've seen. The shop also told her there was a bad wheel bearing. $245.52 for the bearing and $219.65 in labor!! I'll be buying all the parts from your suggested link, 1A Auto.

Good vid, but missed/glossed over that the long UCA bolt will not come straight out without hitting the fender. You have to bend the fender back out of the way first with a large pair of channellocks or similar. If you've done it before you'll notice the fender on this passenger side being done in this video the fender has already been bent back. On the driver's side you also have to remove the battery, the battery tray, a 10mm bolt holding a wire harness bracket, and push out a clip holding the ABS sensor wire to the fender before you pry the fender back so the UCA bolt can come out.

These videos are of the highest quality. I just did this job on a 2003 v8 runner. The power steering hose blocks the long bolt on its way out into the engine compartment. Had to pull that hose off and drain the fluid.

My 2003 4 Runner had broken CV boots, grease was flying all over the place. I took it to my quality local Goodyear shop and due to the serious rust I decided without anyone suggesting it to replace everything. The truck has only 80,000 miles on it. I figured since they were pulling out the axels I might as sell have the struts, control arms, sway bar links, and the ball joints included. Top it off with a front end alignment and I will be good for another 80,000 miles. The 4 Runner has never had anything other than maintenance, batteries , tires and new upscale wheels. So it was time for a little love for the Toyota.

You can try but alot of these bolts are hard to get to once the wheel is back on.

The long bolt is actually supposed to be torqued to 85 ft lbs….should’ve done my own research first.

Looking to purchase a new suspension set for my 07 v6 4Runner 2wd from 1Aauto. Planning to get the TRQ Front 12 Piece Steering and Suspension kit PSA28675, & TRQ Front and Rear Complete Shock Assembly and Absorber Kit SKA60950. Do you recommend me getting anything else ?

I just wish it actually would work like this, but I know when I go to do it half the bolts will be seized and nothing will come apart/go together as easily as in this video. I've literally never done one job on my vehicle where there wasn't some kind of significant hang up or obstacle. I find it so stressful for this reason.

Are you sure the UCA bolt should be torqued to 118 ft lbs? I'm reading everywhere online that it should only be 85 ft lbs. I just installed this part from you this wknd and did the 118 and now am concerned that's too tight.
