is a samsung device still water proof when screen replaced because the liquid the man at delamo mall put on it start discharging but then I used some crazy glue to stop it and my phone working fine with a little like not noticeable dust under the screen but you can't really see it like it's like it's not even there but is it water proof
@deucedaprodeuca8 жыл бұрын
Revelation Teal It's not. I changed it and tested it. I had to immediately open it and dry it out. Some would argue that it's human error, but I did as good job as anyone could do. It's luck if it's still waterproof. Also, these phones lose their IP67 certification based time. The temperature fluctuations and age also make the waterproofing components susceptible to failure.

@Ozzie Bogan I'm pretty sure it was 1mm on the edges and much wider for the top and bottom ends. You can always get the wider stuff like 3/8" and cut it to size in for the ends.

hi if you don't have that gold foil goes behind LCD would it effect LCD in anyway over heating or something else
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
I have not tested it that way to determine what effect it will have nor am I sure whether that acts as an insulator or actually serves the anode function of the AMOLED. I suspect it is the former and not the latter. Small tears don't seem to be a problem as long as you smooth them out. Beyond that, I don't have an answer for you. Hopefully someone else here does.
@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
@Agastya Harta Is it still under warranty? If there is no sign of physical damage maybe Samsung will repair it for you. If it is the AMOLED they are down to about $150 in the US now. I would think that price would not be too different in Indonesia.

@GoCellPhoneRepair9 жыл бұрын
+Jeru Andrews Do-able but not what I would call easy. There's a video around here somewhere. You have to be very very careful as the AMOLED is super fragile and the cables are easy to cut through if you aren't careful. While I don't advise it good luck if you decide to give it a try.

Hey! Can u recommend some sort of adhesive for S5 to make the phone water resistant again? Thanks in advance.
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
+gyunagyos Outside of using the pre-cut adhesive your best bet to waterproof- I should say make water resistant- is probably getting a Liquipel treatment. Id advise against using any type of glue as that usually results in either seeping into the phone and causing damage, not applying enough to entirely coat the surfaces, or in the worse case melting plastic parts- Krazy glue can do this. If you are set on using glue something like B-7000 _might_ work but again thats not something that I would recommend. Great avatar BTW.
@gyunagyos8 жыл бұрын
+Go Cell Phone Repair Thanks a lot for your answer. Unfortunatelly Liquipel is only available in US, but I'm in EU. I don't want to mess up my phone so I'm not going to use any super glue as u said. I already ordered the pre-cut adhesive what I saw on your site, and maybe I will order some red tape too just to make sure the screen is nicely fitted because now i fixed the screen with this type of adhesive, but its not storng enough. ( www.ebay.com/itm/Pre-Cut-Adhesive-Sticker-Glue-Tape-Screen-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S5-i9600-G900-Hot-/172104620635?hash=item28123c1a5b:g:5h0AAOSwG-1Ww-MD ) Looks like I have to say goodbe to my waterproof S5 :( .

I am a tech for a cellphone repair shop and i have been having issues and need advice. I have been repairing phones for years and the only one to give me issues is the galaxy s5. The problem is the adhesive, no matter how its applied it wont hold for longer than a few days...I bought a phone from my boss that I built from broken galaxy phones. My I just noticed my screen is letting go. So I was curious to what tape or gluing method you use to do this model of phone...I have tried your pre cut adhesive, but on this phone it had no change except for how long it held for.
@GoCellPhoneRepair9 жыл бұрын
shadowtuy Do your replacement screens come with adhesive? If not get the pre-cut sheets shown on this page. gocellphonerepair.com/S5 It really makes a big difference for this phone, the Note 4, and the Mega. I had the same problem you did until I stopped trying to cut my own.
@shadowtuy9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply!! I have used the pre-cut and still didn't hold ...I even tried adding some extra hand cut adhesive in the weak areas....no dice. What I think the problem is the phone is rebuilt from parts and the external chassis was from a trade in that was slammed in a car door..Sounds stupid yes but, it looked flat when i replaced the busted components. So I'm going to break it down and use the parts that still have use..

Question for you... Are there necessarily any telltale signs that an S5 has had its AMOLED replaced? I am sending my phone back to try to get warranty repairs after having a non authorized samsung dealer replace my AMOLED. Is there any chance in your opinion that they won't know the screen has been replaced? Does it depend on the adhesive used? thanks
@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard from anyone who tried yet but yes I suspect that use of the proper adhesive would be a factor. We use a single piece now that looks a lot like the original but I'm sure that it's made by a third party. There might be other signs on the inside depending on how the repair was done.

First, great video! I followed this guide and everything seemed to go pretty smooth but now my phone won't charge. After I buttoned everything back up, the phone turned on just fine and the screen displayed just fine (confirmed all buttons worked too) so I plugged it in. I then noticed that it would not charge and it eventually died. Now I cannot get it to charge enough to restart the phone. It will start to charge for a moment and then "reboot" it's charge screen animation; it repeats this every 5-6 seconds or so. Is it possible/likely that I may have damaged the charging port ribbon while removing the screen? The sticky area around the back/home buttons has a few tiny pieces of the old frame in it; could that be causing a short? Does the AMOLED have anything to do with charging the battery or is it all through the charging port ribbon? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@GoCellPhoneRepair9 жыл бұрын
robochomp I would suspect a problem with the charging port. That said there have been several people experiencing similar problems or power button issues while being highly confident that they did the repair correctly. @GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
While it is improbable that the phone will be as watertight as it was when you got it there should not be any light leaking through the edges. Where did you get the replacement screen? If it is seated properly then I would be concerned about the adhesive between the glass and digitizer. Otherwise if you are having trouble keeping it stuck down because of the water that leaked through before the repair you will probably need to replace the adhesive. You'll have to be very careful if you remove the screen as you can potentially break it in the process. +YOPHILLYYO LCD is a loose term often misused in this business I suspect with the intention of making things clear to the user who may not understand "AMOLED" There are no LCDs for this model so what you see advertised as "LCD" is almost 100% guaranteed to be an OEM Samsung AMOLED since there are no aftermarket displays. Let him know that because the phone had been rooted when you bought it from him the Samsung warranty is now void. Otherwise you'll most likely have to replace the screen and as of today they run about $140. If they determine that physical damage caused the problem you'll probably be in the same situation.

So I just got the phone back today from samsung and I turn it on and no pink line! So weird! They said they didn't do anything to do but my screen protector is missing too. Maybe it was a loose connector. Do you think it will show up again?
@chellmcwags62299 жыл бұрын
I also checked if I was rooted with two different apps and both said I was not rooted. So I have no idea what samsung is talking about. This is very frustrating!

They are all one piece so if it is damaged then yes you need the whole thing.

Hello, my phone recently started bleeding after i dropped it, the bottom left corner of the screen is cracked, black is coming out from it and spots of purple that appearing all over the screen. There is also a straight green vertical line which is something to do with the pixels/affecting the screen? I am wondering if a screen repair like this is able to fix a bleeding screen. The touch screen works, i can take calls and its currently still responsive. The purple seems to be getting worse over time and I am wondering if this will continue? If so could you possibly link me to the parts necessary for this. Thank you so much for reading this, have a good day.
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
Yeah that happens a lot with AMOLED. It will most likely get worse until you can't see anything. A new screen should fix the problem but you can always get one and plug it in first before sticking it down with adhesive just to be sure. When you remove the old one it will most likely break by the way. Parts can be found here: gocellphonerepair.com/S5

Hello and thank you for the reply, but I live in Australia and it doesn't seem like it can be shipped over here. We can try to arrange a compromise as I am willing to pay for a small shipping fee. Otherwise I'm looking towards buying a second hand s5 for around the 160-200$ price range.

Behind the class screen, If the copper foil and the black line around the copper foil rips, does it cause the screen to be unresponsive ?
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
+Enoch Yiu Ive had small tears before that didnt seem to cause a problem but Im sure theres a point where it might cause one.
@ucsmfu8 жыл бұрын
Does that mean I need to change to a new LCD digitizer screen ? Thanks
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
+Enoch Yiu Most likely but it is possible that something else is causing the problem. I would try a hard reset first after youve backed up your data. If that doesnt work then the screen will have to be removed so that you can test a new one just to diagnose the problem/access the logic board to check for physical damage.

hello I have a question on wetter this will work for my phone or not. the screen does not appear cracked or damaged but the screen gets really digital and jumps around or gets frozen. or refuses to light up when taping the home or power button. the bottom buttons won't light up either when the screen won't come on. but my notification light will still work. is this worth trying to fix?
@GoCellPhoneRepair7 жыл бұрын
I wish it was an easy yes or no answer but depending on what's causing your problem a new screen may or may not help. The only way to know for sure i to connect a good one to your phone or plug your screen into a different phone and test it.

1mm on the edges and 3/4" under the display. The remainder was cut to size probably from a 3 or 4mm roll. I don't remember exactly on that part but either should work. You can also use the 3M type on the same page and cut it to size but the red tape holds better.

Hello, recently my phone has started to flicker green everytime I turn down the brightness and I am not sure if it is the LCD or the new update that came out a couple months ago, but I was hoping if you had any answers for this problem, I would really appreciate that.
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen that happen but it's possible. Usually, though it's a display on its way out or liquid damage. If it is the screen you'll know soon as they tend to get progressively worse.
@rustyplays18108 жыл бұрын
+Go Cell Phone Repair Okay, also it has started to flicker green when I turn it on and off. Do you suggest changing the screen before it gets bad.
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
That's where it gets more complicated. If you remove the screen you take a big risk of breaking it in the process. So if it isn't the screen you will probably end up wasting money on another one. All things being equal if unless you think that the phone got wet on the inside I would wait and see if it gets worse. Liquid damage is common with this model since people think it's waterproof and take unnecessary risks with it. If you think that this happened after impact from a drop then it is most likely the screen. As for the software upgrade, that one I can't really comment on as it has never happened to anyone that I am aware of.

Hey just wondering, is the phone still going to be water proof after the digitizer replacement
@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
Water resistant would be a better term. In my opinion once it is opened it will be less so than before. Of course if the screen is cracked then the IP rating has already been compromised.

Hi when I was taking the screen out and put it back together the LCD IS FINE but the home, back, menu, finger print scanner, and touch don't work at all and I was wondering if theres a way to just repair them so I don't have to spend 200$
@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
What's the background- were you replacing the screen? The scanner flex is separate from the back and menu button controls so that's strange. Without knowing all of the details my guess would be a bad connection or moisture damage. A bad charging port can also interfere with these functions.

@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
A hard reset may be worth a try. If there is no sign of physical damage and you are under warranty it's probably best to take this up with Samsung otherwise. You could try disconnecting the screen but that carries a risk of breaking it in the process since it has to be pried away from the housing to access the displays FFC. Of course the problem is cause by damage from the drop then you'll need a new screen anyways.

Could someone please answer me this? Will any LCD for the Galaxy S5 fit all the models? (I am looking to buy a damaged S5 on eBay and just swap the screen with my broken one...)
@GoCellPhoneRepair8 жыл бұрын
The screens are all the same for the S5 series. Just remember that it is *very* easy to damage them during removal. They are super fragile and the flex cables at the top are very thin so you must avoid them when prying. It would be best to remove your broken one first to get an idea of what to expect and as always- perform this procedure at your own risk only if you feel confident about doing it yourself.

The cost of the part is still about $125 so you can to expect to pay $175 with labor. If your AMOLEd and digitizer are not damaged you might get a small core exchange rebate. Like about $25 or so.

Emphasis on not getting between the 1. the glass and digitizer should be made a little bit more. You made a small remark but as someone who is doing this for the first time I felt clueless as to which parts I was trying to go between. 2. which part of the copper foil you should be on or which side actually has the adhesive. I am to blame but I went to replace my charging port and now need a digitizer.
@Spare14All8 жыл бұрын
+Zanghi Mark hey how did it work out in the end, i hope it is good news? i am about to embark on this mission very soon but am a little confused after reading ur post... am i right to assume there is a glass screen, then digitizer and LCD or whatever it is?..... i thought it was just a touch screen digitizer, then lcd, like it is on my htc.... thanks
@zanghi798 жыл бұрын
No there is actually room for you to get between the glass and digitizer. Once you get the screen lifted it's just hard to tell what side of what your supposed to be on. Just lift the glass and go under the whole thing. The wires may confuse you but they snap out of the attachment fairly easy which you have to do anyway so it's not that big of a deal
@zanghi798 жыл бұрын

Ew. Most likely a bad connection or a defective part. Hopefully you just didn't plug it in all the way but you have to be very careful taking it off again. If you damage it in the process you probably won't be able to exchange it.
