Thank you for your well done instructional video. Great camera work! When replacing my heater hoses I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the quick-connects. It's nice to learn from someone who knows.

I went to my mechanic, they wanted $260.00 for this repair. I am a 58 year old woman on disability. I could NOT afford that. I went to my local parts store, bought the parts for $35.00 total, replaced both Y connectors and all hoses. It took less than 40 minutes, mainly because I'm short and had a hard time reaching and pulling off the old hoses on my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. But THANK YOU for being so methodical in showing us exactly what to do! The people at my parts store are always so impressed when I come in to get my parts. And I can't believe more women don't do these things. It's easy if you follow directions!

Dude you rock!Awesome how you explain everything in detail all the way down to even taking off those clamps and those can be very difficult sometimes but with your advice of using the needle nose vice grips made it alot easier for me!Thank you for your detail instructions!

Thank you! I had coolant sprayed under the hood and I couldn't find where it was coming from. Thanks to this video, I located the y pipe, and sure enough, that was the source. Got the parts, and 20 minutes later everything was swapped out! Thanks a million!

Just got back from a field repair job. The advice about cutting the old hoses was invaluable. Thank you! If I may add: I had to use a chisel (of all things!) to cut off the hose that goes through the firewall because I had trouble getting my knife into position. A razor blade (like you show in this video) would have been helpful, too. Once the old hoses were off, the new assembly went on in about 5 minutes, tops. Thanks for this video - it gave me the confidence try, and the knowledge to succeed!

Hi, I couldn’t find the diagram on your website. We replaced both sets of hoses yesterday and kept track of each hose location. The rear passenger heater blows cold. It looks like these have been replaced before (the Y that stands upright didn’t have the quick-connect, just a longer section of heater hose). Wondering if perhaps things were misrouted before. Tried freeze frame on the video but still couldn’t get a clear enough view of the diagram. Can you post or point me to the location on your site? Thanks, Jay

You can also use a small torch to heat up the hose

I have developed a leak on the supply line that goes to the rear heat. It runs down along the frame to the rear of the vehicle. I bought an entire Heater hose assembly. The vehicles has over 300,000 miles on it and my thinking is with that many miles i might as well replace the entire length. How hard it is to replace it all the way to the rear of the vehicle? The old van still runs great and everything works the way it should. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Btw do you have any videos or help me with a suggestion?My girlfriends dodge caravan is having issues with the a.c. not blowing as cool as it used to and we thought it was the heater hose (coolant was going fast) because we thought we seen a leak but we must of been wrong since the leak is gone but the a.c. is still not working right (Also the coolant isn't going away fast anymore for some reason)?

Is there a control valve that stops the water flow through the heater core on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan? My heater will blow warm for a little while then blow cold on both the driver's and passenger's side.
@nashehanes10445 жыл бұрын
I have an '03 Caravan SXT(not a Grand). 3.3L. Ton of miles, body rusting, but I love this van. I have heard that heater core failure is a common problem of this series. It has not been professionally diagnosed. When the heater is turned on, there is a strong smell of coolant at first in the cabin. It diminishes after that. Could the failure in the Y pipe be causing this instead of the actual heater core being at fault? Also, I lose a lot of coolant - which may or may not be related - and I can't find a spot on inspection of the radiator or reservoir that is leaking. I think I can R&R the hoses per your video; but I could just as soon perform brain surgery as tackle heater core R&R. Thank you in advance.
@ibnormal715 жыл бұрын
I was experiencing a similar situation. I thought the reserve tank was leaking, but looking at the tank from underneath, I could see major gunk ( I mean BIG pieces of filth that I assume was kicked out from the radiator) buildup that was blocking the feed line from the radiator. Periodically coolant odor arose, then I would see a pool of dumped coolant on the ground. Still, it was difficult to pinpoint the location of the leak or if there were more than one. I pulled the reserve tank, which did have a hairline crack in it near the lower mounting bolt, so I replaced the tank. This led to a disaster. In my frustration from having no room to work I thought it a good idea to remove the two coolant feeder lines going into the transmission. Bad idea. One bolt snapped halfway inside the transmission. But that's a topic for another discussion. AFter the van was running for a while and the engine toasty, smoke would start pouring from under the hood. Popped the hood, took a peek and saw immediately the issue: The U hose going into the firewall was leaking all over the hot spots under the hood, thus the smoke. Heater worked great, so I assume the core isn't damaged. I bought the replacement hose, but it is freezing outside so I'm going to give it till the weekend is done. I'll post any update if the problems are gone.

Big Meezy Sauce it may reduce performance in interior heater as he said, but mostly nothing... it’s all flowing from point A and B to point C. As long as there’s no leak the water will find it’s way
