Good video. It took me about 10 minutes to take off the right side (white). & about 25 mins for the left side (black). I couldn’t get a good grip on the tool on the left side. I used a small slide hammer with a hook & put the hook behind the tool & it finally came off. I used “Lisle” part# 39190, 3/4” Heater Disconnect For GM & it’s metal & has a pin to keep the two halves together. I got the LISLE tool @ Oreillys for $14. I also sprayed WD-40 inside the hose connectors & tool.

For the love off god I can’t get it off with that tool

For those of you struggling, after you get the tool totally inserted DONT PULL ON THE TOOL, JUST THE PIPE. The tool will but up against the ridge that you’re attempting to slide the fitting off of. It just comes right off. So. Easy. But it took me an hour to figure that out.

Those Dorman quick connectors failed and slid right off. Ended up just connecting the hoses to the inlet and outlet with hose clamps.

I still can't understand why people install the plastic ones. Few dollars more to get the metal one and tlot would never need replaced again.

If we bypass the connector and go straight to the tubing on the core, then where would the refrigerant line hook up? Is it a matter of just putting a "T" fitting in as well?

Confused. Most of these new parts have the white basket release inside. Yours did not and you slid the plastic piece onto metal heater core. What locks it in place? Also, using the tool to get the piece off the heater core I did not see the white release BASKET COME OUT EITHER. Thought that was a needed part to secure connection. 2 hrs into watching videos. Onward.

it's weird to me that you suggest a hose clamp instead of a spring clamp
@kimokahikolekalihi

I agree. If that's all you have, that's all you have but you should use a spring clamp. It is self adjusting with expansion and contraction through heat cycles and much easier to use.

Spring clamps are usually for turbos or air intakes
