2:38 FOR ANYONE wanting to get these damn connects off. Thank you sir so much. There are countless videos on KZbin and your advice is bulletproof for these damn things. Reach back there and squeeze the tabs and the key is PUSH IN AND PULL OUT they come out very easy. I cannot appreciate enough this video. Plus thanks for the part numbers on these things. Thank you....I just blew the heater core hose....it cracked right at the crimp. I thought I was going have the truck towed to a garage to fix it. Your straight forward explanation of everything was spot on. I just disconnected everything in about 15 min in the rain. That last plastic manifold at the rear was a bear...but it came off. The larger hoses came off just by Squeezing the white plastic clips... The aluminium lines I needed to squeeze the clips with needle nose players and they gently came out. I'm Getting all new parts & hose tomorrow.....just a FYI..About 2wk ago I ask the dealership what it would cost to change all the hose & flush it..& put fresh coolant.The dealership want $865. I'm so happy I found ur video. Thanks again 👍....also my truck is an 2008 1500 4wd suburban LTZ. 5.3L FLEX

Great Video! My heater hose broke in the *same exact* place for my 07 Chevy Suburban. The best thing about this video was that he showed the part numbers. I had been searching on line and had gone to my local AutoZone/Advanced Auto and no one could seem to find the right part for the smaller hose that attached to the black T-connector. I searched the hose number he listed and found it in 30 seconds. I'm subscribed now.

Thanks for clearly showing what tabs to squeeze in for removal at 4:20 I could not tell if I needed to squeeze in the outer portion, or the inner portion which actually locks the fitting in place. Now I know it's the outer portion. It's still not easy when working on a 17 year old vehicle which has never had these previously removed.

Very good video. What works for me best, first remove with the big tabs at the very back first. The little tabs at the front can be difficult in letting go. If you have to break the clips that hold the tabs, your installing new ones anyways, just don't bend the metal tubing. I just did this job with all new hose, like you. Nice work on the video. You're helping people save a lot of money by doing it themselves.

I just had the exact same one break that you held up in the video. (Few hours ago) I was lucky enough to cut it off and hose clamp it onto the stub remaining and filled it up with coolant. But I had no idea what the part was. And now I found your video. You are extremely talented and it shows with your confidence and knowledge. 👍👍 Don't mean to sound too much of an ass kisser but when that damn thang broke I thought my fn truck was on fire 😂 I got out heading towards my fire extinguisher until I saw the liquid pouring out the passanger side area under the truck. Tried to explain what I was dealing with at AutoZone but I forgot to take a picture because it was kind of like a flash bomb going off 😂 when you're driving. Just finished replacing both heater hoses and T connectors. Great video helped me out a lot! I tried squeezing the clips but the connector wouldn't release. After an hour of fighting with them i eventually broke the tabs which then made pop out easily. Glad I'm done with the repair. Cheers

@@natenoskill1976 yes, I was able to replace just the left hose fastener... cut the factory clamp device off, losing about 1.25 inch, still enough to go on the fitting with a ring clamp. Only needed the distal piece, although did not realize until had the entire y-shape fitting off ( very difficult, had to break it off ).

Brian, excellent how to. I love my GMvehicles but honestly some of their engineering is not user friendly. The quick disconnect fittings are certainly not quick. The fitting for draining the radiator is a disaster trying to get to and utilize. It's easier to just drain the radiator by removing the lower hose on the opposite side of the radiator. Regardless, you have done an outstanding video, thanks.

10/10 on the instructions! Wish I had the extra tools but was able to take the bottom of the hose off with a sharp enough knife. That process took the most time of the process’s Seems this was only the fix for a reaction and not the original cause. Engine temp is still out of normal. Any suggestions? Maybe the thermostat caused the original problem?

Brian, what kind of work platform were you using to access the connections from the front of the vehicle? It looks as though it was some kind of device that allows you to lean forward over the front of the vehicle and pull the hoses straight forward, rather than trying to work from over the right fender. I have an old elevated platform called a Topside Creeper that will be forced into action this afternoon. I was hoping to have just a 30 minute of less encounter like some of the lucky commenters, but that didn't happen. I agree with the other commenters: best description and video showing how the plastic locking tabs actually work, and how to get them to release. Kudos to you. DGBryan

If you have a topside creeper, you have already won half the battle and are very lucky. !!! Also video editing is a great thing, nothing goes a smoothly as the video depicts, all the cursing and tool throwing is usually edited out😂 but this video is the best I’ve found in correctly replacing these hoses and fittings.

Mine is leaking now, I bought the part online from seller JUSTAUTOZONE2007 and it arrived yesterday. I measured it against the old hose and it is a perfect fit. Shipping on EBAY for parts guarantees that the part will fit (or not fit) your vehicle. I've been buying parts online from eBay for years, I've never ever got a wrong part. As long as you have the correct information about your vehicle, every part is exact. The hose was $27.89 plus tax $1.95, so I paid $29.84, less than $30.00, compared to your $185.00 , such a big mark-up, such a big SAVINGS. I highly recommend shopping on eBay for all your parts needs. A savings of $155.00 is much needed in this day and time, for me anyway.

Good video. An important take away I got from this video is that the white & black tees are different sizes. I did this job a week ago & it leaks. I used Dorman tees bought at Advance Auto & was sold 2 white tees that are the SAME part #. I put a white tee where the black one goes & the aluminum line leaks now. Going to GM tomorrow

Did you have to clean the ends of the aluminum tubes with any solvent/brake cleaner and put anything on the ends of the tubes (i.e. grease, soapy water) before installing the tee connectors?

It would not hurt to clean it with some brake cleaner on a rag. Silicone grease may help the new tee go on easier .

Well, shazaaam, shazaaam..... a near miracle to come across a youtube video actually showing, in useful detail, just how to deal with these (MISERABLE) quick-disconnect fittings on GM hoses.... Jumpin' jehosophat, amazing..... Imagine, it IS actually possible to quickly disconnect a "quick disconnect" fitting. Too bad GM never bothered to put a DIY video on just how to work with these awful things. (had me thinking all these years they were designed so folks would give up in despair and take it to the gm stealerships.....) Rant over. It doesn't matter how over full you fill the reservoir tank, it has a drain hose if the pressure gets built up to high the tank will evacuate the un-needed product out of this hose to keep the bottle from exploding like an M80 is under your hood

All I did was cut the factory clamp off the hose that snapped off in the beginning of the video. It has enough slack to just add a clamp. No need to replace the T fitting.

Over time the plastic fittings and “O” rings in the plastic fittings will deteriorate ( get brittle) and leak. My Tahoe blew a heater hose coming home from work one morning, didn’t have time to fix it so a shop charged me $500 for a piece of rubber hose and two clamps………….. it still leaked !!!! Never again. I ordered the GM parts and did the proper replacement myself.

This seems to be EXACTLY the problem w/my 2009 Tahoe. Same hose, same break. It looks a little more complicated than I was led to believe. Questions: I am extremely budget limited, and this is my only vehicle, so time is important as well. Also, my Tahoe while dependable and maintained in a timely manner, is a rebuild, so I am okay w/NOT GM manufacture parts, as in this case, the cheaper but dependable method/parts are best. I am not clear on why both hoses needed to be disconnected from the motor, while only one is broke off from the connection at firewall? Any help as to the necessities vs extras of this job video, I am so thankful!

Those plastic fittings get brittle over time going through numerous heat cycles causing the “O” rings to leak. Since this is not a real pleasant job most people find it cheaper in the long run to just replace both, with GM parts to assure proper fit, and to save on expensive antifreeze. However, you can go the cheaper route and pay a repair shop $500 for a piece of rubber hose and 2 clamps, and still have a leak !!! That’s what I did, but I assure you that will never happen again !!! I got the GM replacement parts and did the job right for half that myself. But it’s your vehicle, you can do whatever is best for you.

Also, I can't seem to locate the heater hose link that has the attachments for the T-connector. Do I need a special hose or will heater hose and clamps work? Andrew Sanchez You can just change one line but if one blew The next line is not far behind so I would recommend doing them both at the same time.

I do believe it’s the exact same part. Always check with your parts supplier just in case though.

hi, whats the name of the Y connector on the minute 1:50 everybody its telling me that is the heater hose connector, but that one is the one connected to the firewall... I need to know the Y shaped name por replace it in a 2006 escalade ext thanks!

Erick Garza Belloso I believe you were talking about the heater hose that goes from the reservoir to the side of the water pump.. it’s not a TV it’s built into the hose.

Thank you for teaching this! But you got baby hands to get in there?? My hands are almost the size of a man's hands, that's a real bugger to deal with the firewall connection. Ugh
