How to: Replace high level brake light bulbs (Ford Mondeo Mk3)

Accessing the 3rd brake light and its bulbs on a hatchback Mondeo, a consideration of LED retrofit bulbs or upgrading to an LED unit, and a brief look at where water in the brake light cover and on the rear windscreen might be coming from.
You will need:
- Philips head screwdriver
- Replacement bulbs as required, 501 W5W incandescent.

Thanks a lot mate, I wanted to go for LEDs but I’ll keep it legal. (I’ve sealed the upper washer with silicone as I had water leak in the trim, and can confirm it’s been the solution for me. I need to replace my handbrake as it failed at MoT, and I’m glad there’s a video on it.) Keep up the good work !

Hi. When I switch the headlights on the rear high level break light comes on and stays on. Can someone help solve this problem please. Thank you.

Have you tried the Osram T10s. They are of the same shape and size like the filament ones.

No they're not close enough and they don't produce the all-around even light output required. I reviewed them and the Philips equivalent, have a look.
