A couple of questions: 1. Can the processor be replaced, or is it soldered in place on the motherboard? My reason for asking is because personally, I find an Intel Celeron to be a bit on the slow side. 2. Would I be able to replace the motherboard itself with one from another HP laptop (model 15-r131wm)?

Unfortunately, I dont currently still have this computer but if memory serves then no, the CPU cannot be replaced. Its integrated into the motherboard :( You best bet to see if another motherboard is compatible is to see if it looks the same using a site like Ebay or Amazon where you can find them for sale by searching for their model numbers. If they look the same and the ports are located in the same spots, there is a good chance they are compatible if they come from the same series.

Hello! I have this exact laptop that I need to replace the power connection port on. I’m using a Hp laptop: Question, I did the components test, it returned back results that said, Hard drive smart check “ passed” Hard drive short DST check “failed” Does that mean my hard drive is bad and I should just replace it? Yes, most likely if your drive is only 128GB, its most likely a SSD as they are more expensive. Unfortunately I couldnt find any videos on your specific model. If you see a space for a HDD, then you should be able to just go ahead and install it.

Double check the specs on your laptop, but most likely you will be looking for a 2.5 inch Hard Drive with a SATA connection for Laptops. Not servers. You should be able to search for that on Ebay, Amazon, etc. You should be able to get a good used one on Ebay around 500GB sized for well under $20 USD. That what you were looking for?

How can I tell if the harddrive is loose? I already had the harddrive replaced once, and did the diagnostics that told me my harddrive was bad. I believe you said in another video that it might be loose. I took it out and put it back, but I'm not sure if it works yet. I will charge it and see

If the diagnostics say the HDD is not installed, it could be loose or bad. If the diagnostics say its bad, then its most likely not loose. Its most likely bad. You can tell if its loose if it feels loose :) If it feels secure then its most likely not loose.

No lol, they are not all the same. I can keep track mentally these days as I have been doing this for a long time. However, when I started, I would write out a sticky note for each part. Bottom Case, HDD, Palmreset, etc. I would then put the screws that were needed to take out that component on that sticky note so I knew where to place them when putting everything back together :)

Once the laptop has 1st como on when I press either F2 or F10 all that happens is it comes up on the bottom left hand corner F10... Bios setup options or F2...startup check. So you have any solution to this please?

If the diagnostic test on the HDD failed, it usually means the HDD is bad and needs to be replaced. You can see an example of that procedure here in this video. That means its either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. You would have to make sure they are compatible. Chances are the RAM is not, but you can check. Refer to this video to help with the RAM: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKWmq6ikoZV0h6M The processor may be compatible as long as its the same brand. Intel, AMD, etc. Thats a little more tricky though. Its easy to damage a CPU chip by forcing it if it does not fit.

Yes, if the hard drive is bad, then any data stored on it may be lost. You can try bringing it to a repair shop. Sometimes we can get data off bad drives but usually not :(

So it's covered by plastic, but it looks like it can be torn off. I'm trying to slide it out, through the slide where the battery sits, but I think I'm making things alot harder than thing should go because its blocked by the speaker, and the battery holder. @@caleydaniela7529 As you can see at 4:30 in this video, the RAM is removable and can be upgraded fairly easily. The biggest components to 'speed' is the RAM, the CPU, and the Drive. I would check out your computers manufacture website or Crucial.com. It can tell you what your computer can be upgraded to and suggestions on what to upgrade to. I always try to max out the RAM in a computer as its a fairly inexpensive component. Its definitely worth upgrading your Hard Drive to a Solid State Drive. That will greatly help with speed :)

You can try hooking it up to another working computer via an external hard drive link. If that does not work, then you would have to take it to a repair shop. Sometimes we can get data off bad drives.

That means its either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. Try the scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn_TZn6YpJ6ofsk​. You would also then need to install an operating system onto the new one as shown here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppCxkKuMbM-SjtE​ Q: Changing settings in BIOS didnt help and everything passed the test?

I have replaced my hard drive and battery and my screen still says "no bootable device". I hit f11 to factory restart AMD "no bootable device" message still apears

After installing a new HDD, did you try to install an operating system onto it? It may still display that error if there is no OS to boot up

Otherwise you will just have to follow a general video on how to get inside an HP computer and try to figure out the differences.

@@PC_Monkey It was, it just had a 3F0 so I wanted to look at mine and see if there was any debris that had gotten in there and I got the sides popped up, got scared and turned back and after I got everything put back in it’s place, the keyboard and screen weren’t on

@@PC_Monkey When I first noticed it wasn’t coming on I popped the side my disk slot and cord that runs to my screen is on, blew some air in it and there was a moment that it came back on but once I closed the side back it wouldn’t come back on so I dove further into trying to open in up and when I would press the power button it made a humming noise (no fan) but then I accidentally pulled too hard on the strip that connected to my power button trying to connect it back to the slot on the board and I think I messed it up

@@raenahmorrison8494 Yes, those are pretty weak and break easily :( If you need to replace it, I usually get my computer parts on sites like Ebay, Amazon, etc
