Replace the firing pin and spring on your phoenix arms hp22a or hp25. This is the first major malfunction that i have had with this gun. It lasted more than 2500 rounds before failing. It looks like the biggest issue may have been the return spring. in the video you can see that the spring was damaged. The firing pin was also a little bit worn down and shorter than factory. The damage to the firing pin is no doubt from letting people dry fire the gun while learning to shoot. this is a great trainer gun, and i will continue to repair and use it as long as possible!

Cool pistol indeed. Now if Phoenix Arms would find a (1) BETTER recoil spring and (2) a proper steel for a properly hardened hammer and (3) an elevator mounted to the top of the spring inside the magazine so that the slide would lock open after the last round has been fired this pistol would be even COOLER.

The rocoil spring on the gun is horrible. First time I cleaned the gun it shot across the room and I spent a lot of time trying to locate. I had already purchased four replacements from the manufacturers because of other comments about it. Found it that first time. But cleaned it today and have not been able to find it. Also th springs sent by manufacturier were actually about two coils longer and therefore tighter still! On the positive side, like to be able to switch between my 3" and 5" barrels; the gun shoots true to aim; and as another channel reviewer pointed out, loading the mag with a quiet subsonic round first lets you hear when the mag is empty so you don't dry fire (works like a charm). Finally you really have to get use to all the combo safeties or modify to fully enjoy this gun. This is a gun I want to like but it is hard to put up with these particular design features when there are so many other choices.

For your info you can go to home depot and buy a bag of 100 plastic ribbed anchors, (Everbilt #4) and use these whenever you want to dry fire your 22"s, they work great. Saves your firing pin and chamber.

Been thinking about loading a snap cap (or hollow wall anchor) as the first round in the magazine (last round fired) so you don't dry fire on the last round. Does that seem reasonable?

I just picked one of these up and the hammer broke after only 25 shots so I replaced it and now it won't fire. I tried firing it twice since the replacement hammer was installed and I keep getting real light hits and misfires. Do you think I need to go ahead and replace the firing pin as well or is there possibly something else goin on.. Parts are cheap and I'll replace the whole internals of I have to, if that's what it takes to get it operational.

How about a video showing how to take apart the fire pin block/safety and replacing the spring in case it gets damage?..Once the spring brakes, the safety won't stay up in the fire position while shooting because its loose and will drop blocking the fire pin.

Without taking the firing pin out... can we tell if the pin is damaged and needs to be replaced? Taken apart, I can press on the little springy area poking through the plate, but cannot see the other tip of the pin that strikes. I assume this means it has broken if it doesn't protrude? I don't understand why it would break as it has only been fired fewer than 50 times and not dry fired. Thx.

Hi Gary! You will not be able to see the tip of the firing pin if you push on the back of it, unless you have something small and can push the pin all the way in. The firing pin in this hangdun is "rebounding". You should be able to see the tip inside the breech of the slide though with a flashlight

I'm having an issue with my hp22a, the safety switch up top on the left side of the slide near the hammer keeps falling back down to the safe position after every shot. It then misfires and I have to pull hammer back and then lift safety back up before it will fire again. What do you think is causing this?

My brother-in-law left his HP25A pistol with me & the problem is with the firing pin block safety. The pistol fires even with the safety lever in SAFE (downward) position. So now after attempting to put in 33 new springs in over 2 hours and bending each, I give up and am offering it for sale. Brand new, never fired or loaded.
