The front passenger window on my 2002 Yukon stopped working...I did some research and found what the replacement part would be...ordered it from Amazon for $32 shipped. When it got here I thought I was in over my head and even after watching a couple other video's I was going to take it to the shop and have them do it. Then I found your video and after watching it a couple of times I figured I'd give it a shot. Well your instructions and video were so clear and simple that I had NO problems what so ever and about 45 minutes later I was done and the window was working perfectly!! Local shop wanted $252 total to repair...you saved me $225....thanks dude!!!!

Thank you for this video showing step by step instructions! I just bought a replacement motor/regulator from Auto Zone for about $100. I followed your video and got my driver's side window working again in my 2003 Yukon XL. Saved me a bunch of money and I learned something new. Thanks so much!

Thanks mcormic97 for taking the time to make this video, it was very helpful. I did an '01 Denali and it was identical minus the speaker. For anyone about to do this, it is easier than it looks. You DO NOT have to temporarily reconnect the power mirror switch to raise the new regulator to the glass. That plug is the most difficult part. Don't forget to loosen the glass clamp screws before raising them onto the glass. I found it easier to slip the seat heater switch out through the panel.

He used three tools. Four if you include the tape to hold up his window. A flat blade screwdriver, and a ratchet with two sizes. If you need him to get that deep into the weeds, take it to a dealer. His video is the best "How To" I've come across. Simple. To the point. And you are complaining he didn't save you 6 seconds of your life by reaching into your toolbox and grabbing the right socket. If that is your biggest complaint, life is good.

Caution: Watch several "How To's" before attempting the job as then you might actually get all the details. Made everything look so easy and it could have been. The control doesn't just pop off, there is a screw holding the front side underneath.

Once you get the door panel off you should be able to lift/push the window to a position that will allow you to do the install. it doesn’t necessarily have to be all the way up i guess, just as long as it’s secured and not falling down while trying to do it. Thanks!

You would probably have to take the door panel off and then you might be able to get it to lift up, then you could wedge it in place temporarily or use tape or something. until you can get it replaced.

hey man, you just said " I got mine from Auto Zone , it was about 100.00 but it has a life time warranty so they should refund me" what did you mean by that? did you take the broken one in and get your money back? i will be able to fix my door if that is the deal. it looks like you don't respond to this video, might be because of the age, i hope you can let me know, i don't know whats wrong with mine yet. I mean, its up and it wont come down, I bought a new switch but that is not the problem. seems to be all locked up, i pulled the wire harness clip off the motor and tested it with the switch and i get 14 + and 14 - up and down but hat motor is not budging that window, I don't even feel or hear a peep when I hit the switch, I do see the lights dim though and I can hear a tiny click inside the switch. mines a 2001 but exactly like this, even the same colors
@mcormic97
@mcormic97 5 жыл бұрын
Larry Leisuresuit what i meant there is that they should refund me if the “new” one ever goes bad. sorry, should have been more clear there. i’m no pro, but from your description it sounds kind of like mine was. you could take the panel off and check for broken cables, etc. before buying a replacement part. if no broken cables, regulator motor may be bad. might check voltage at motor also. good luck!
@mcormic97
@mcormic97 5 жыл бұрын
Larry Leisuresuit sorry, just read again and saw that you already checked voltage at motor. if no broken cables, could still be motor itself as mentioned before.

i went ahead and reluctantly went to auto zone for a new " entire regulator" i see it's lifetime warranty but it is doorman. Guy behind the counter swears by doorman, i have had a few of their parts on the past and i am about 50/50 with there bs. don't get me wrong , i do see everything will match up, but this is so cheap in every way. so what i did was test my old one outside the truck and inside the truck and I found I can get it to work if its at a certain angle or if i bang in it a sec. so that was an interesting test. i tested the new one also and it works perfectly BUT , It does not look the same, the metals thinner, the motor is smaller, the cables are different, it just seems weaker than the OEM . back to the OEM, I decided it has to be in the motor " the problem i mean. because the cables and frame are flawless, I mean they looks so good I could dust them off and sell them for new , everything seems to work. so I pulled the motor, kinda want my 100.00 back from auto zone so i was looking to see if there was something I could do to make that happen and still have a operational window. LOL. so if you are going to pull that motor, just take the three bolts out that hold the black frame, not the motor case, you don't want to undo that before you have the whole thing off and setting at a table. Mine went all to shit, everything came apart with hardly anytime to see and remember how it would go back together since there were busted parts in there. the new motor is small and looks more breakable. yet here I am, with a broken OEM AC/delco , i did gather the info quick and see how the motor is assembled and how it works , so what the problem was, the NEG side while going UP, is connected INSIDE the motor with a resistor built onto the lead wire. the positive lead wire is flexible and the neg is a bare end of the resistor , rather than a coated wire, it's solid and silver looking, anyway, that lead broke, due to the motor case / bracket for the door power, snapping. it was still there but i think maybe the bolts in the whole unit were a little lose and the thing bound up. the negative side was broken inside the motor and i pulled the whole thing apart, soldiered a added piece of wire in there on the broken neg side so it;s flexible where it was rigid and put it all back together ( that putting it back together is harder than it seems in writing.) and put the 4 bolts back in the case, i went to test it and its running strong as a brand new one, stronger really because it;s OEM and the new door man is smaller fragile parts. i am taking the doorman back tomorrow and getting my 1100 dollar bill back LOL cha chaaaa. also i used some white grease everywhere where the door man has it on it on my old dried up unit, i suspect that the grease at factory goes away and that is why the widows start to drag and then eventually wear and tear and dragging ends up breaking cables. i am thinking i probably should remove and inspect them all and grease them up to prevent breakage. the brushes in the motor are small, i bet the added drag really wears them out faster. after 17 years it appears to have a little better than half the life of the brushes left on the MOST used window. i will probably just remember this and do it to every older car i ever get in the future so i don't have this same fail happening. Looks really common and the few hours it will take for each car is worth it to me to not have to buy new regulators. Thanks for the GREAT VIDEO!!!!! really saved me some dough.

Larry Leisuresuit Awesome! Glad you were able to fix yours and hope you’re able to get your refund! Maybe your solution will be able to help someone else in the future if theirs is just the motor. thanks for the reply!
