This is by far is the best Video showing in real time step by step details on how to take off intake and replace step by step. I have to remove intake on 2005 Focus ST with 2,3 engine just to replace the PCV valve as it the only way to change it which seems to be stuck open and i sucking oil from engine.

Very good and detailed video, impressive job done by lady mechanic, not often seen at this hard job:). To hold the bolts on sockets I using piece of rubber from used gloves, never tried the grease.

Great Work Done I have a P0171 Running Lean Etc.Took it to The Shop He Used Brake Fliud Sprayed The intake stated I need to change The Gaskets.

took my time 2010 mazda-6...did not drain coolant, remove injectors or jack up car! Instant improvement in MPG & cat not at threshold code gone...winter will tell! Many thanks for the video

I've done this on a Mondeo a couple of times. It's mostly the same engine as this. You don't need to drain the coolant or disconnect the fuel rail, I'm not sure why you need to on the Mazda. You also don't need to unbolt that metal tube from the head because there is a bit more forwards room.

I dont know about the torquing though, you say 12-14psf which is 574-670NM, is that correct? I will have to spend a small fortune for one of these wrenches.

This is exactly what i needed to see to prepare the replace the intake manifold on my Mazda 5, which is leaking on the vacuum port. Unfortunately the insert is built into the manifold, which means the whole manifold needs to be replaced. The procedure looks to be about the same.

took my 2004 Mazda 1.8 Sakata to the dealership due to an airbag recall. The mechanic mentioned the engine light was on, and that the air intake/gasket did not sound right? the engine light has been intermittent recently, switching itself on and off. Is this a common Mazda 6 issue - annoyed as I had the car serviced in Feb.

I presume this would be very similar to Mazda 3 2005-6, maybe a cause of rough idle and causing ol fault with no code. Have changed everything else, MAF, o2 sensors, coils, spark plugs, fuel filter. Since I need to replace radiator support, bumper could be easier when radiator is out.

For a V6 3.0L intake manifold it shouldn't be more than 30mins to an hour at most. Only for gaskets and some silicone sealant. There's only about 4 hoses to unplug and 2-3 cables to disconnect. Tricky it may be to pull off the EGR

The design on this engine is just dumb, there's no room to work and that middle bolt is almost impossible, also the crankshaft is not even keyed it's just held in position by pressure, so if it becomes loose goodbye to your valves... Just bad design, sometimes i think they over complicate things just to keep us all in line....
