Used this process to replace the knocks sensor wire on my 2011 Honda Odyssey. A rat built a nest right on top of the knocks sensor and destroyed the wire. Saved a lot of time using this method. Thanks a lot

Hi Elliot. I was wondering if you could show how your took off/and reattached the steering pump/serpentine belt. I would really like to see if I could do this, but think seeing pre and post knock sensor replacement would be helpful. Thanks.

Thank you so much! Had the same issue with a rat’s nest. I used gloves to clean the junk out. I had just purchased the harness but later the Knock sensor. Advice to all, also buy the sensor. The one there is old and fragile and brakes easy. I used that Husky wrench to take off the sensor but I struggled to tighten. I just hand tighten. It was a tight fit to get my hand in there. Used my left as apparently it’s a bit smaller.

Is there any trick to getting it back in there tight? I have that same husky 24mm wrench and while it worked to get it out just fine, or at least to break the torque so I could unscrew it by hand. I don't see how to torque it back in there, just isn't enough clearance to reposition the wrench and continue torquing down the 6 point sensor. UPDATE: Was able to get it, did have to go buy another 24mm wrench (kobalt brand at lowe's) that had a bit more of an offset, and that had it's 12 point teeth slightly differently aligned.

Again Kudos to OneT Garage. Saved us a lot of time and money! Thanks to hozjo for the wrench tip. Could not get it out or in without the thin-wall, offset kobalt wrench. Lowes nicked me for $22 vs the $10 for the Husky which was much thicker and with smaller offset.

Rockauto.com or you can get them at any local auto parts store. Like Advance Auto.

One T like effort but I ended taking intake off even if move that power steering to side by time fiddle with that quicker take intake off and be done with. I had go buy another 12mm smaller ratchet to get back bolts. Now imma tell much found whole lot insulation and rats definitely had made themselves at home nothing left of wiring harness 😂 good thing is I got everything out waiting on part to arrive tomorrow . I ordered sensor had no idea I would. NEed harness found one at O'Reilly's . Looking out everything back together tomorrow

Awesome hack but doesn’t seem to work on 2005 Accord V6. Very low clearance to tighten the sensor. I used the Home Depot 15’ offset, 75’ Offset, 45’ offset. Maybe a stubby offset wrench could have done the trick. Had to give up after sometime and go the conventional route of opening the manifold to access the sensor properly.

Interesting that the 2005 is different. That’s too bad. Thanks for the comment, and letting us know!

Thanks for the video sir! Do you have to bleed/flush out the power steering fluid after removing and re-installing the PS pump?
@onetgarage94294 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment! You do not have to flush the power steering system because you don’t even have to take the hoses off. Just unbolt the three steering pump bolts and you can move the pump to the side without disconnecting the lines.
@indomitableJ4 жыл бұрын
@@onetgarage9429 I see the hose/line that connects the PS fluid container and feeds into the PS pump removed in your video. Would that not introduce air into the system?
@onetgarage94294 жыл бұрын
James Ng I do have it removed in the video, however it is not necessary to remove it. Even if you do remove it just fill the power steering reservoir to the full line when you are done and you should be fine. If you hear a whining sound when you crank the car back up and turn the wheel you may have some air. If that happens just remove the power steering reservoir cap and turn the wheel one way and then the other a few times, refill the reservoir and reinstall the cap. You should have no problems. If it does still whine just drive it for a while and check the power steering fluid level again. The air will work its way out pretty quick.

@@onetgarage9429 Okay, thank you for that. I'll give it a shot.

Isn't there another knock sensor on the front of the engine behind the front manifold?
@alanpachecoosuna32776 ай бұрын
Does anyone know the severity of this issue. I scanned my car and it said to change the sensor as soon as possible if I had driving issues. That it could damage the main system.
@ActinOut4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty confused on this because half the info and videos I'm finding on this show the knock sensor on the top like this one and the other half shows it on the front of the engine behind the intake manifold. Are there 2 or different models or what? Anyone know?
@onetgarage94294 жыл бұрын
If you have the Honda Accord 2003-2004 3.0 v6 engine then the only knock sensor is the one I show in my video, which is under the intake manifold. On The 4 cylinder accord engine I believe the knock sensor is on the side of the engine. Thanks for watching. Thanks for the comment.

Why out of all the wires. Why do rats always only choose to chew the knock sensor wire. I have a friend who got his chew off but no other wire was touch and then I saw another guy on KZbin and his knock sensor was also chew up but no other wires was touch. Do you know the answer to that because I tried looking it up but it only bring me to some stupid rat show
@onetgarage94293 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but I believe it’s just because of where the wires are located. They are usually right in the center up under the intake where it would be the perfect place for a rodent to stay warm and build a nest. And maybe just because they are hanging out there they chew the wires. Anyway, it’s very inconvenient and I wish the pesky little critters would stay away from our cars.
