This was just the video I needed. In addition to a broken screen, my hinges were also broken, so the full tutorial on how to replace the entire display was clear and helped me to save an otherwise very good laptop from going to e-waste. Thanks for the clear steps and helpful video!

Thank you for this video, mine worked perfect. A couple of differences but mostly the same. Mine had an extra pin connector with the ribbon that connects the the screen back to the laptop plus three small screws at the bottom of the screen frame.

*Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Display Replacement Guide* * *0:00:03** Introduction:* The video demonstrates how to replace the cracked screen of a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 laptop. * *0:00:22** Unique Disassembly:* This model requires sliding a plastic piece to remove the LCD bezel, unlike typical laptop designs. * *0:00:34** Initial Steps:* The process involves opening the laptop, disconnecting the display, and removing the damaged screen. * *0:00:45** Adhesive Mounting:* The display is attached with double-sided tape instead of screws, adding complexity to the replacement. * *0:00:55** Back Panel Screws:* Most screws on the back panel are the same size, except for a few shorter ones. * *0:02:36** Battery Disconnection:* Disconnect the battery first to prevent damage while working on the display. * *0:03:10** Cable Disconnections:* Disconnect the LCD screen and Wi-Fi cables. * *0:04:25** Display Removal:* Carefully slide and separate the display from the frame. * *0:05:47** Adhesive Removal:* Gently remove the double-sided tape securing the display, similar to removing iPhone battery adhesive. * *0:07:55** Display Model:* The display model is identified as n140 BGA-EA4 version C3. * *0:08:33** Awaiting New Display:* The video pauses while waiting for the new display to arrive. * *0:08:49** New Display Preparation:* Apply double-sided tape to the new display, mimicking the original display's mounting. * *0:11:15** Plastic Frame Preparation:* Replace the double-sided tape on the plastic frame as needed. * *0:12:09** Screen Protector Removal:* Remove the protective layer from the new screen. * *0:12:20** Plastic Frame Reattachment:* Reattach the plastic frame to the new display. * *0:13:29** Display Connection:* Connect the new display and test it to ensure it functions correctly. * *0:13:58** Hinge Reinstallation:* Reinstall the laptop hinges. * *0:15:06** Cable Management:* Route the display and Wi-Fi cables through their designated slots. * *0:15:24** Wi-Fi Cable Reconnection:* Reconnect the Wi-Fi cables. * *0:16:47** Battery Reconnection:* Reconnect the battery. * *0:17:27** Power Test:* Power on the laptop to verify the new display is working. * *0:18:34** Final Steps:* Reattach the back cover and tighten all screws to complete the replacement. * *0:18:54** Conclusion:* The replacement process is longer than expected due to the adhesive mounting but is ultimately successful. At 4:25 you start removing the grey bottom bit below the screen before removing the black edge at around 4:55. I thought it was much easier to reverse that and start with the black rim before removing that grey bit. Is there a good reason to do it your way that i am not seeing?
@12many4you11 ай бұрын
Also. Thanks man. Your video helped me be brave enough to try this
@LaptopDisassembly11 ай бұрын
the gray bottom is on a slide mechanism. So if you try to remove the black first, there is a big chance to brake the plastic bits, that are holding the gray bottom.

9:59 why did you apply the tape just to take it off? I don’t know anything about computers in this matter, a buddy at school had his laptop screen cracked and I thought to look for myself on yt to see how it can be changed rather than paying as imo it doesn’t seem like a difficult task at all just patience and correct tools.

But when i shut down/sleep and turn it back on, the green lines showed up again. Is the problem the lcd cable loose to the display?

If is the cable, when you wiggle the screen it should do it. Probably a loose connection on the screen side, or the screen itself. Try to move the screen to see is it changing

The full HD display has different LVDS lines, and sometimes if you replace the screen from HD to Full HD you need to replace the cable also, in order to support the high resolution display. There is a small chance that you killed the backlight circuit. Check around the main board connector about some fuse. Try to put back the old display and check is there any backlight.
