This video goes over how to replace a purge valve on a 2004 Honda Accord with a 2.4 motor. It should be the same process for any 2002-2007 Honda Accord with a 2.4. This vehicle had a check engine light with a PO443 code and the symptoms were erratic idle and difficulty starting after the vehicle had been filled at a gas station. The purge valve is part of the EVAP system which all cars have had since the 70’s. The fuel vapors are stored in the storage canister and once the vehicle is up to normal operating temperature, the PCM then opens the purge valve, allowing the fuel vapors to be burned by the motor which in turn helps to reduce air pollution. Other possibilities of a PO443 are bad PCM, bad wiring, fuel cap or fuel tank pressure sensor.

Successful replacement with your very well put together video and instructions. No more check engine light in fact, no codes at all. 2003 Honda Accord 2.4L.

This is such a spiderweb of a spot and I thought that was it, I can already tell mine's all rusted because that was the first hose I noticed that looked suspicious in terms of leaks. It's most likely all rusted on the inside and stuck or something. Had no idea how to get to it but this video is so well shot and explained I feel like I just memorized it all and seems so easy now.

This was fantastic! Still a beast to get at and replace the part - but never would have been able to do it without this video. The piece of paper to hold the bolt - first time I had seen that. Genius.

I ordered the same part from O'Reilly's for a 2009 and it only cost me $45. Watching how-to videos I realize this is something I can do myself. Got a labor quote from an independent mechanic entrepreneur and he quoted me $100 so I'm about to save a nice chunk😏

At O reielys they asked me if i wanted federal or California part, that i should check my emissions label. Only problem is i don't have one. What else can i do to find out if its federal or California ? Or does it matter if i get either part?

To cause a P0443, there has to be a problem with the purge control circuit, not necessarily the valve. It could also be the 2-way bypass solenoid, the canister shutoff valve, or any of the hoses . I would have a professional do a EVAP leak test so you're not wasting your time or money .

Replaced mine twice and both times lasted about 4-6 month and check engine light came on with same error. Any suggestions?
@TheAutoTeacher
@TheAutoTeacher 2 жыл бұрын
Start with checking for a short in your purge valve wiring, or a leak in one of your hoses. The next thing would be purchasing the purge valve directly from Honda. Good luck.

@@lukethaduke4837 Okay after having it looked at with a honda dealership ended up being the Solenoid canister being the issue. Was told it was filled with dirt and since that was going through to system to replace the solenoid valve as well. Cant find a single video doing a full replacement of the canister but still looking. 300$ fix vs 880$ for mechanic to do it.
