Great video, Dan. This gives me confidence to do-it-myself on my 2007 Sentra. I am sure I would watch this over and over before I start. Update: I was able to remove the drum rotar with great difficulty as it was stuck. I did release the emergency brake, but still stuck. used the bolts to pop up. would not do. then I poked a screw driver from the back through the whole where the retainer pins/nails is holding the shoes. (The pins already fell inside due to banging the drum using a mallet). the rotar came off. I cleaned the area, the drum and put the retainer pin and spring back with pliers. your video was useful. Thank you so much. I did not replace the shoes yet, but I cleaned a great deal of the area and spray painted the exterior of the drum after sanding it well. I love the look of the wheel now. I will do a regular cleaning (annually) from now on.

awesome. my son and I just did his 2007 sentra with drums. we did not see this video, but we did it pretty much like you did except without the special tools. the right sized socket worked on getting the hold down springs for each shoe. we also sprayed lots of brake clean in there to clean everything up.

Great video. I just did my rear brakes today using your video (first time doing drums). The only thing I would recommend is not removing the arm (3:00 mark). I did that on the first side and fought with it trying to get it back on for way longer than I would want to admit. When I went to the other side, I left the arm connected to the cable and simply removed the shoe from the arm. Leave the arm attached to the cable, remove the clip, add new arm, add new clip (or reuse old) and it will be easier. Made it so much quicker. Great video-I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the nice comment and suggestion. Sometimes I don't disconnect the arm from the parking brake cable, it's just easier for me to do the clip with the old shoe/arm in a bench vise. Glad to hear you got it done without too much trouble. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man

Great video.., it was clear and concise without wasting time explaining the obvious like some videos (i.e. this is a brake shoe, these are pliers, this is a wrench etc.). Last time I did a drum brake job was around 30 years ago on my mom's '85 Chrysler. I watched this video to get an idea of what drum brakes were like on a Nissan because I plan to do the rear brakes on my son's 2008 Sentra soon. Now I know what to expect. Thanks..

Great video, exactly what I needed as a reference before swapping the pads on my 2012 which has the exact same setup. Nice VID bro!, but how come you didn't use the brake clean to clean off all the brake dust, and put grease on the backing plate , & the STAR-WHEEL ADJ. any metal-to-metal contacts need to be greased, otherwise the B. SHOES will get stuck & not move freely, so they won't rubb on the drum, hence wear out faster....

Sounds like you may have an issue with the parking brake, or possibly a wheel cylinder leaking out enough fluid to cause a loss in pressure. I would take the drums back off and inspect both sides to see if there is an issue. Since the parking brake isn't working, you may just need to adjust them tighter, or verify that the cable is connected properly. Best of luck to you, please let me know if I can help you further. Hi Mario, It is possible that the shoes are not fully seated on the lower part, or that they aren’t lined up perfectly centered on the hub/backing plate. Also, make sure you have the star wheel adjustable rod turned in far enough. Sometimes you have the push the shoes together with your hands to make sure they’re not hung up on something on the backing plate. Best of luck with it. Take care Dan the Fix it Man
