Good video guys, just noticed one problem, at 20:14 when you're torquing down the caliper bracket bolts, the Volvo spec is to do an initial torque of 35 Nm (26 ft-lbs) which you did but to then perform a final torquing 60 degrees more which would be 1/6 of a full rotation. Most importantly and for safety sake, I wanted to point out that 26 ft-lbs is not tight enough. Again, nice work! And for those asking about torque specs for the slider bolts, its 27.5 Nm (20.3 ft-lbs)

I never comment but, I wanted to let you know how much confidence this gave me. After this comment, I am heading outside to attempt the brakes myself. I especially like the fact that you spent the extra time explaining the finer details of what you were doing per step. Example: not taking out the fourth lug bolt so the tire doesn’t fall on your foot. Great advice, that tire would have probably scraped my leg. Due to poor planning on my part, I regrettably have not purchased the brakes or rotors from 1A auto. However, moving forward because, of this video, with its clear HD high quality, and Len the fantastic professional/knowledgeable host I will now only be buying my parts from 1A auto. Thank you and excellent job. Subscribed, thumbs up, & buying parts from you from now on. Andy

Great video. Good camera work and great attitude. Thanks. That being said...you said "don't get lubricant on your friction material" and then you stuck your greasy right thumb on the pad...at 16:13. No big deal. Just amusing. Also...I agree with comments below. Loosen your pin guides while the caliper bracket is still attached. You won't need to leverage or struggle with flopping parts. Thanks again.

Yeah I was gunna say, that’s just an accident waiting to happen. I could see someone ripping that brake hose doing it that way or at the very least busting their knuckles. Much more easy to break them Bree before the bracket

I just wanted to say thanks forthis video. I have a 2005 XC90 T6 and while I was driving the other day I started to hear a faint grinding sound coming from the rear brakes. So today on my day off I figured I'd KZbin and to find a how to video to replace my brakes and this video came up. You made it very easy for me to change the brakes myself and it went rather easily for me. Prior to myself getting started my wife said Why don't you bring it somewhere and get it fixed? You have know idea what I really wanted to say to her after I heard that.....Anyway thanks again for a very informative video lesson!

thanks for a well detailled video, I have a 2006 XC90 2.5T AWD and my caliper bracket bolts are 13mm there seems to be some variations possible from the 14mm you encountered.

Nice detailed video. The only thing I would add is to explain that if this were an actual pad replacement, the pads would be worn down and the caliper piston would be extended and need to be compressed. When compressing the piston, the bleeder valve would need to be opened a bit and the brake hose clamped with a hose clamp so debris is not forced upstream into the ABS sensors which could damage them. ABS repair is quite expensive, so the proper steps need to be taken to prevent damage. Over all, great detailed video! Nice job!

Seems like 20 ft-lb for caliper bracket bolts maybe a bit too loose. The front bracket video show additional tightening of 60 degrees. I suppose it is also needed here?

How did you compress the caliper piston, did it need to be twisted while being compressed? If I compressed without twisting, did I damage my brake system?

It's a wheel hub. Bearing is a ball race. Shoes ??? woops. People could go overboard with an abrasive sanding disc; create too much play !!. I'd clean the grease smudge off the inner pad. What about de-waxing the new disc ?!. :) Finally some anti-seize on the lug bolts. :) :)

Nice instruction with one potentially massive fail. The carrier bolts are torqued to 26 ft lbs + 60 DEGREES (per VIDA). Improperly torqued bolts (especially with brakes) could lead to a catastrophic end result. Also, the bolts cannot be reused as they are torque to yield. ....otherwise good video.

Use a big C clamp and a used brake pad to push the piston back. Be careful to not rip the piston boots.
