I’ve never seen someone open a bleeder to compress a caliber. Why didn’t you open reservoir ?

Is it possible to compress piston without opening bleeder valve but fluid reservoir cover open on ABS system, for same model?

put the grease on the the brake hardware clips...not on the caliber bracket. defeats the purpose of the grease to be under that.

I've done these jobs before, but not on a Honda. At 80, I felt I should see this video. Pretty straight forward, but as I was removing the caliper, a washer fell out from "I don't know where". I rewatched the video, and found where it belonged. (A caliper compressing kit can be rented for a deposit fee from most auto parts stores) In my case there are two Phillips head screws holding the rotor on. If the rotor is rusted to the hub, it may take a hammer whack to break it free. Opening the bleeder valve could subject you to having to bleed the brakes. I've had to clean up some brake pad tips with a file to get them to fit into the slides.

Have WD40 (it dries up in about 2 weeks since it has NO real oil in it) handy to spray around the rubber boot before and while turning the caliper piston back in. And don't do like the guy in the video did, loosen the bleeder screw before taking the caliper off the bracket. When done with the screw job on the piston clean the area of WD40 by using brake parts cleaner.
