Perfect timing. Drums last a long time but at 300k miles its time to do mine.

followed your guidance & pulled it off👍 I hadn't messed with brakes since 1975 on an old '64 Plymouth Valiant beater I had in high school. It all came back after watching your video... Thanks for taking me back 😎

I had to reverse install the cross spring. Installed the right shoe first. Tried for over an hour to get the spring to extend to the right shoe. Gave up. Pulled the spring to the left side instead and got it. Thanks for the information!! Had this video on replay for a while...lol

What is the size of the bolts?

You should always disconnect the battery when doing brake work on the second gen prius. The electric brake controller can activate if the drivers door is opened or the brake pedal is touched. One activated it can blow out the wheel cylinder or caliper on the front.

What size are the bolts
@videopipeline64199 ай бұрын
This is a concise yet thorough DIY guide, but you made one key mistake... you got grease (from your gloves) on the friction surfaces of the shoes. It's visible starting @ 7:30. Since switching to clean gloves may not be practical, I suggest protecting the friction surfaces by wrapping with something like cling wrap or aluminum foil.

As I did the large brake tention spring on the top it blew out the brake cylinder now I have brake fluid everywhere. I hate how easy he makes it look but the tension on that brake tensioner spring is near impossible to get back in place.

Not a fan of rear drum work. Thanks for making it look so easy to do when its not, really. Bloody springs!
