I miss my old panther platform. My first car when I got my license in 1992 it was a 1985 Ford LTD crown Victoria. It was a gorgeous still in showroom condition. She took care of it. It was her baby. I had it for 15 years & never had any problems with it. Just regular maintenance I'd love to have another one eventually I love your car it's a beautiful car I miss that panther platform I wish they'd never got rid of it 😊

Thanks for your time! I appreciate you! I love these kind of stories! Very inspirational. I used to go through cars like they were nothing. But I’m meeting people as I’m getting older who have such a connection and passion about their cars it rubs off on me! Thanks for sharing. One day I want to own an 89 Lincoln town car carrier in white or gray color!

If I jack up the rear of my car I put the chocks in front of the front tires to prevent the car wanting to go with the downgrade. I have a '99 with the different positioned rear shocks. I'm also in Jersey I know what you mean about the roads. With all the property taxes and tolls you'd think we would have the best roads in the world. Good vid.

Went with KYB's on my vic, but... I went with what came stock on mine at least. 07 p71 going on 182k. That underside is in great shape, you should get it undercoated with some sort of oily undercoating. (I did fluid film) and a combo of that and wool wax on my truck. The vic gets tucked away for the winter. It's mine and the daughter's fav car. At 177k, oem shocks were still doing great and no leak's. But that's police spec'd shocks and got replaced with the same.

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate your time! I am planing to do PB Blaster undercoating or something similar to that! I’ll look into your advice on the fluid film. I do want to preserve the car as it’s still under 100k. My 5 year old daughter loves to help with the car and loves to ride in it. She calls it “The Bus”

@@LoveWhatYouDrive Mine's 6 and she gets angry when I drive my truck to pick her up from school lol. Mine just calls it the big car. Do look into it, it'll at least give it a lot more life. I've had 2 so far, they like to rot out in the rocker's, above the front wheels on the fender and back where it mounts, and the cavity right in front of the rear wheels up. Getting into those area's are easy diy with a 360 spray can wand. Even something like bar & chain oil will work. Just really need it to stick and stay.

Great content, I just installed my KYB 555601 replacement shocks on my 2004 Grand Marquis GS. Your video made it a breeze although I had to use a lot of elbow grease to push up on the shock to guide it into the bottom bracket. I didn’t realize I bought shocks for increased stability & handling. I was just wondering where did you get your jack from because I need a bigger one than my small old 2 ton for applications like these. Thank you!
@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive 3 ай бұрын
I appreciate the kind words thank you for stopping by. The jack. I use is a Pittsburgh brand which you can find at Harbor freight tools, not sure how much it runs. It was given to me as a gift when I helped my buddy move!

I got the same shocks for my Town Car. Did yours come with bushings? I was surprised mine didn't.
@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive Ай бұрын
@@Ace-44 these came with the small rubber pieces that go on top of the shocks where it bolts to the frame of the car, and the rubber bushings used tit shock on the bottom. But no other bushings for any other parts of the car. I’m not sure if that’s what you’re asking? But usually the new hardware like the big washers and rubber or whatever material used that holds the shock come together with the shocks.

I see you had to use a hammer to widen for fit. I have Motorcraft shocks so I wouldn't have any difficulty installing it. As a matter of fact it went in easy. Please don't get me wrong I like and appreciate your video. And yes it's easier from 06 and up models. You just proven a point between O.E.M. and aftermarket parts. Thumbs up on this. Thanks for the Last clip nothing goes to waste.

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your input! You are right , I did use a hammer which is a good thing you mention because I forgot to add it to the tools list in the description. I will do that now. And of course, oem or what was intended for the car is always better, but money is tight in this time so we work with what we have for the time being! I would also like to use oem parts. Thanks for your thoughts! It will definitely help someone along the way!

Thanks for coming by and for your time to watch! I appreciate you! Thanks for clearing up the 06-03. I’m just talking with what is in-front of me and can’t make claims on other years. They actually ride very nice. For some reason I thought that such a big car, the shocks would have a little more resistance to them. They ride amazing and paired with the sway bar that I didn’t have from the factory, it improved ride quality and handling tremendously!

@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive Жыл бұрын
@@seanflynn6451 I’m sure you can do it if you have basic tools and basic knowledge! I don’t know how much it would cost for a shop to do the work, (I do all my own work) all I know is that it’s between $90-$120 an hour for labor plus parts. A quick phone call to a shop will tell you the ball park! Good luck. If I’m not mistaken the police interceptor shocks are stiffer compared to normal civilian ones. Maybe next ones I get will be police ones because I’m noticing even with one person in the back it’s a lil mushy/soft.

So much unnecessary video. Just replace the part. 23 minute video for 5 minutes of mechanic work. If you need to be walked through how to identify a socket size, you don't need to be doing mechanic work. Thanks for at least replacing the part, but I didn't need to jump through all that. Where to lift and were the connections are, everything else is useless.
