Very awesome video! My right joystick got messed up because my kid dropped the portal and I was very sad. I started browsing KZbin to see if anyone had replaced joysticks yet. I found this video and watched it all the way through. Felt confident that I could swap out the joystick, so I ordered a replacement and a hobby tool kit. Took about two weeks for the joystick to show up. I followed this video step by step and I feel he does such a good job explaining each process that this was a breeze to change. Awesome tear down. I'm saving your video if I ever need to replace those. Some units have that clicking sound from the sticks sitting loose on the shaft, mine has this issue with a left stick. It's not much but it bothers me a little.

I lost one of the tiny black screws that kept the joystick on. It went inside of the portal and I’ve done everything to get it out but it won’t work. Will it be ok without one of those screws in?

I don't think the drop is what make the joystick malfunction... mine lost the vertical on the left stick without a drop...

Y hay gente que dice que sony hace productos de mala calidad xDD que desmonten switch, que trae tornillos visibles desde fuera, y aún apretándolos todos hay partes que tienen holgura y que quedan por la presión de un costado, levantadas del otro (física pura), todo por no poner estos enganches para que todo quede en su sitio. Portal trae tornillos para asegurar, pero el sellado se hace con los clicks. En switch no hay sellado, una porquería en toda regla.
