Last summer, I disconnected the seat heating connector under the driver's seat because it was doing the random turn on thing and driving me batty! Thanks, for the walk-thru of this repair -much appreciated!

I had this exact problem. Ordered the part, watched you video and easily completed myself...and turned it into a teaching opportunity for my teenage son. Thank you!!!

UPDATE: First, I am still very appreciative of the DIY video, however, even thought I “tested” the switch before I re-assembled and then again after, the problem showed itself this morning immediately upon starting the truck. According to a Chevy forum I’ve also been following, replacing the primary switch cluster for windows locks and mirrors fixed the problem. Interesting, the two people who posted that, said they had tried replacing the heated seat switch first which didn’t solve the problem. No complaints here, but didn’t want my earlier comment to possibly mislead anyone. Electrical problems are just plain hard to troubleshoot when things are module controlled. Hope this helps.

This is one of the FEW AMAZING USEFUL videos on KZbin. Thank you! I'm currently having this EXACT issue. Push on the driver-side heated seat... in a couple of seconds, off it goes. While my '03 is in mint condition and reaching 20 years (this is my 3 Silverado in over 30 years), things do break down. Almost 25K views. Congrats! Thank you for posting such a necessary video. 👊

Wow, 3rd Silverado. This is my first. Love the heated seats in the winter months. I’m so glad you found the video useful. Thank you for the kind words. And thanks for watching!

You have an issue alright. It's not your switch though. It's your fat mouth.

Did replacing the switch solve your problem? From what I'm reading your problem sounds like it could also be a burnt out heater that needs replaced in the seat.

So did the repair / replacement work? I have the same issue with the seat heater in my 03 tahoe.
@Lup3r6 жыл бұрын
Brian Browning the issue goes away if it’s dry, no? If that’s the case then all you need to do it just coat the connection with a waterproof sealant, eliminating the moisture that causes the false switching. This is something I will be doing a video on soon. Can be viewable on my channel called Sweeper Mods.

Worked great. Thought about trying the glue idea, but I only wanted to take it apart once.

I'm trying to follow this, but I cant seem to find where the wire plugs into at 3:44 it popped loose during removal.
@FreeAutoMechanic2 жыл бұрын
at 3:42 you can see the original position and location of the wire that was taking loose at 3:44. The plugs will only fit in one position on the switch.

I have had water and snow come in my window on a few occasions. At one point the lights were flickering and the heated seats would only work some of the time. On a few occasions the seats came on themselves and now I have nothing. I was think of getting the switch but am still reading up on what else it could be. It just seems that in less than a week that switch slowly stopped working.

Someone else posted above, then, also replacing the window buttons, door locks, mirror adjust block of electronics under the armrest did fix their problem.

New switch didn't fix my issue. Still turns on and off as it pleases.

You could have left the door panel on and just pulled the switch out from the left side and changed it out.

How would you unplug it from the door module without taking the door panel off? Use someone with infant hands to reach through the hole?
