Just disassemled my A5100 and the main difference is a cable which a6500 doesn't have - the one that flips the screen in selfie mode. The motherboard do have the connector (on 2:10 on the bottom - white one) but no cable as on 6500 you can't flip the screen)) and the new screen works! Magic! One beer to ya 🍻

Thanks for great tutorial top man ! I just replaced LCD in a6600 and all is working . In a6600 back plate little different but all principles the same. Cable connectors took me 1 hr to connect , used tweezer with angulated end .One thing I found out is that new LCD did not snap in frame very well . I suspect that Sony uses some adhesive in a6600 so did I . - used super glue on both vertical edges. At the end I attached tempered glass protector , pleased to say - touch screen works like a charm and now my new toy looks better than when new.

1yr since I replaced ,time on a6600 and it works very well .Get some tweezers , obviously have to be gentle but whole process was straight forward . I was very slow , try not to rush .Remember to keep all the tiny screws in one place so none get lost. When removing your old LCD you will loose some adhesive which keeps this well attached to the frame. I used superglue when assembling the new lcd to the frame- not a lot of glue used , I think I used very thin brush to paint it just in corners - it still holds very well 1 year later. After replacing lcd protect it with tempered glass protector to avoid future damage. good luck , surely you can do it !

Thanks for an excellent video. I made a ribbon cable installation tool by whittling down a popsicle stick till the end was thin and square, carefully positioning the cable connectors so they were exactly even with their slots, then pushing them in a little at a time. It went very easy, and the popsicle stick made a great, unmarking pry tool for other parts of this job. A screwdriver or many other things might well have worked, but I did not want to push the ribbon cable with steel edges.

Yes, My camera had fallen over in the wind on my tripod and cracked the screen. As noted in this video, there are some tricky parts, attaching the connecters and getting the screen free from the adhesive, but I was able to do both. I did break the old screen getting it out, but I guess that’s normal! Have been using it since, no problems so far.

90% success for my 6400. The touch screen is not working. I noticed a thin copper ground strip along the edge of the double edged tape on the broken LCD when I removed it, that came out when I removed the broken one. Not sure if that's the problem or perhaps one of the three ribbon cables? My two tips: 1) The outer edge of the black ribbon cables have a small tab that can be used to push on using a flat screw driver or similar. 2) Two of the screws are longer than the rest. Keep track of the two lengths! Also, I noticed there may be a version difference between the New and old LCD. The new one appears to be revision A, the old one was C.

Same story on my end. I ordered the LCD from eBay and took it to a local service center. They replaced the LCD, but now the touch operation is not working. I'm asking myself if should settle with the non-touchscreen or just go ahead and get this one replaced as well.

I went to the Sony repair shop and they told me that there has been a jerked in the prism assembly and it needs to be replaced which almost cost half of the camera price ... I have the same problem with my 6400. I was thinking it may be related to the copper ground strip that was in the double sided tape holding the old LCD in place? Did you ever resolve it? I tried un-doing and re-doing the 3 ribbon cables. I did notice that leaving the top (not black) connector disconnected, was functional without touch, which tells me that the touch problem may be related to the non black connector.

hi can you say if this screen has this protector film on it like many sony cameras have? i saw many videos where the display starts to get bubbles and they simply peel of this thin foil from the display and all the bubbles are gone. i could buy an 6300 for cheap because it has 2 tinny scratches. thanks

Cool diy repair! But now i really wonder if, with little hacks and twicks, the screen could be transformed into a flip-out one. If somewhere a chinese dude can sell some electric connexion ruban extension + an articulated flip-out mechanism, a chimera sony with flip-out can born? Maybe.

Yes, when I was replacing mine I realized that the outer glass was the only broken piece here. But after removing the broken glass, it was so sticky that the inner LCD screen cracked, so I did end up using the whole replacement part anyway.

I'm not sure but I don't think so, since a6000 doesn't have touch screen, so it should have different ribbon cable parts. Try this one tho ebay.to/2PIU7Wz, I contacted the seller asking if they have a sony logo on the front part. I'll get back to you once I receive this information

Yes, just remove the screen when you take it out, just be careful not to damage the screen when removing it from the glass.

Ok, so i've replaced the screen on the 6300 - thanks for the video. NOW, PLEASE PRINT THIS FOR OTHER USERS - IT IS MUCH, MUCH EASIER NOT, NOT, NOT, TO TRY AND RE ATTACH THE TAGS AS THE VIDEO SUGGESTS. It is a million times easier to take the the main sealed tag out and attach the new tags to the detached piece then reattach the whole tugging the seal tape as a means of pulling and locating the connector.

Just got done applying the screen that you put in the description and I’m extremely disappointed. The colors are absolutely terrible and the screen was used and scratched. I have a screen again, but it makes my camera feel like it’s from 2002.
