I liked the clear description of how to properly remove the coil connections by lifting the grey tab first, then squeezing the two sides lightly to remove the connectors.

Success. My clip to move the wire out of the way wasn't disengaging with the click the other video suggested. It was the pull tab you showed using needle nose pliers. Thanks so much.

A lot of people don’t use the grease, I just prefer it. You would want to make sure that you’re very careful if working with a radium plugs to not get to electric grease on the threaded end. 👍🏼

Great video. I think I can pull this off myself instead of giving the dealership $300 to do it. Just a question.....what is that silver paste you are putting on the threads and is that needed or can it be done without that.
@TweekerDan1984
@TweekerDan1984 Жыл бұрын
@lvc8372 that past is anti-seize, it makes removing the plugs easier in the future but it may not be required. Many others perform this work without anti-seize.

Your comment under this video is the reason im debating doing this myself or just paying the kia dealer ship. Because if they break parts they just put new ones on, and cant charge you because its their fuck up..

@ltc0928 great question, one of the pieces is a 3/8 inch extension and the other is a 3/8 inch ratchet wrench. Also just want to share one of my favorite quotes. “The only dumb question is the the one that is never asked.”

Can you take the coils out without unplugging the wire? Wouldnt unplugging the coil packs trip something and have to unhook battery so u lose radio stations etc?
@TweekerDan1984
@TweekerDan1984 Жыл бұрын
@Pimp Dizzle sorry for the delay, yes you could. I only recommend disconnecting the battery as a precautionary measure. I personally feel comfortable doing most maintenance without disconnecting the battery.

Was that dielectric grease you used on the actual spark plug too?
@TweekerDan1984
@TweekerDan1984 8 ай бұрын
I typically just put the dialectic grease on the spark plug wire (rubber boot) itself, It is important not to get dialectic grease on the spark plug side that is going into the motor as this could cause damage to the iridium on some spark plugs.

A good video but don’t use anti-seize on the spark plug threads. It interferes with the plug. If you check most spark plug manufacturers websites it will say don’t add anti-seize. The manufacturers put a coating on the threads already. At least the good plugs come that way.

what is the silver stuff you put on the sparkplugs?
@TweekerDan1984
@TweekerDan1984 Жыл бұрын
@mr.santos5074 that is anti seize, if you use it you would only want to put it on the threads of the spark plug. Anti-seize will make the spark plugs easier to remove in the future.

@Admire The Strange knowing is half the battle 👍 a large benefit to having a certified shop do the work is that the work and possible damages are covered by the shop. I mostly create step-by-step videos for task that are less invasive and less likely to have problems, but even on some of the simplest has issues can occur. I hope this video was able to guide you. Cheers!

Dielectric grease does NOT go in the coils like that! It goes on the porcelain of the plug, NOT on the contacts!
@TweekerDan1984
@TweekerDan1984 Жыл бұрын
@1vw4me there is a lot of controversy over where you can or can’t use dielectric grease. Most commonly this grease is applied on spark plug boots, lightbulbs, battery terminals and electrical connections dielectric grease is, in theory, a protectant like car wax. It's not required, but it could help extend and maintain the life and quality of your vehicle and its parts.
