Strongly suggest taking out the starter before removing nut and plug in clip. But not before disengaging the harness point that is pushed into the one hole. Way too much of a hassle to try and get that all off before dropping starter. And not enough room depending on year. No disrespect here though. These guys videos are fantastic.

I was told the converter had to be removed also to get to the starter

So it sure looks like you had to loosen the trans pan just to get that bracket out? This video sucks. Im sorry but this didnt really help at all.
