straight-up thank you, a buddy of mine had birthday + christmas plans derailed for his girls because he discovered his alternator died today, so I'm helping him replace it tomorrow thanks to this. did his power steering pump and reservoir a year ago, that belt tensioner is wicked strong...

Thank you kindly for this tutorial. I followed it with great success yesterday! I found, i had to hammer down this part/spacer at the bottom of new alternator. Otherwise, you will spend the whole day shoving the thing into its place to no avail. Best of luck, cheers!

Very well done video. You walked me through every step of the procedure. Fabulous when you tell me which wrench is next and where they are hidden. If not for your video, I would have pulled the radiator fans. The unexpected part was when my belt did not stay in place as needed and I could not find the belt routing sticker. I was saved when it came up on the next frame of your video.

As instructional videos go, this is super helpful. I love the little extras like resetting the codes on the computer and stereo. You didn't HAVE to show that, but it saved me going through another search. You definitely made this look easier than what I experienced, but I'm pretty sure that's mostly because you're just better at this stuff than I am. Thanks for posting.

couple of extra thoughts: 1. use small zip ties to secure the belt to the pulleys so you don't have to trust your memory. 2. Remove the power steering reservoir at the top front of the engine to get the hose completely out of the way. 3. Use a short 14mm socket to release pulley tension otherwise you may be blocked from pushing it all the way. 4. Might as well use some dielectric grease on the power wire. 5. I already forgot, but I think the power wire clips are spread and not push in. But, again, not sure.

Thanks for taking the time to share this video with us. It helped me deal with what looked to be impossible to remove, given the limited space. I have a 2005, but it was pretty much the same deal. I thought from your vid that first bolt just had to be loosened, but I found this was just under a high tension spring applying pressure on this belt. I was not prepared for the amount of leverage needed to back it off and still have a hand free to slip the belt off. Getting it all back on again was also a trick, but I managed and if fortunately worked out and solved my problem w/o having to loose my work rig for a day ro 2 at the Dealership.

I just finished doing my alternator and had a hard time with the serpentine belt. DON'T USE A 14MM DEEP SOCKET for the tensioner. When I used the deep socket, it interfered with the motor mount and didn't give enough slack to loop the belt over the tensioner.

Thanks for the video, I usually do all my own work but lately I been taking a break from automotive mechanics until just recently so mickey mouse mechanic told my fiance that he would have to lift the truck to remove the alternator AND that she, my fiance had to get antifreeze because he had to remove the hose, i'm like this asshole, so I'm doing the work myself and this video just proved that it can be done from the top. thanks again for this very informative video brother.

@3:45 don't let this video make you think it is that easy, since he cut away during the most difficult part, the physical removal. I have been working over an hour to get the alternator out, and still can't get it to come out. My AC hose may have less slack than his. I've chewed the hell out of the plastic timing belt cover and the tensioner pulley trying to wrestle it out. I may have to get it towed to a shop, or figure out how to remove the radiator fan. I wish I never started this project.
