thank you for showing a more accurate rendition of what's needed - i can't believe the number of videos showing people removing the back without a block and some force - apparently they were pre-loosened for the purpose.

Thank you. very informative and clear picture. can you give more information on correct alignment of metal ring with triangular prongs that sits on top of battery. when you say longer prong is facing periphery, did you mean about 2 o clock position of watch dial. I noticed on my watch (1120 series) there is a 2 mm circle itched on the ring. does this itched circle line up near one of the screws with an itched line next to it ?? if triangular prong on top of battery sits completely flat does it mean its correctly aligned ?

Thanks. Oh gosh I think that level of specificity is beyond my knowledge... I’m really just an enthusiast with some knowledge, by no means a professional.

Did you find out the alignment of the metal ring? Thanks!

Hi, great tutorial video, thank you! I have a ladies Tag Aquaracer WAF1412, that needs a new quartz movement . How do it find out which ETA movement to order pls. Thks!!!!
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for that - based on a quick look-up I think the movement is an *ETA F03.111* . However if you're going to get a watchmaker to fit the new movement probably good to get them to confirm this also. Cheers, Ivan.

Great video. Very useful. The watch still remain Water Resistant?
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
I regulated a few new automatic watches with screw in case backs and they have performed fine for swimming, but I don't scuba dive. This watch is quite old and the rubber seal may not work very well anymore - I wouldn't mind giving it a test but would not be too surprised if it lets in water with swimming. If your watch is older remember the seal may need replacement to ensure its waterproof. Cheers, Ivan.

NO..every time a watch is open it needs to be retested so yer, it can be water resistant and can also take in water.
@PerthWAtch5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your view - how strange that I didn't "need" to retest it ;)

Good Review With Very Helpful Information ... Near my home a watch dealer replaces batteries for $5.00 USD and to give him business I take him most of my watches ... Good to know about high quality long lasting Renata German batteries ... A watch worker at the Maurice Lacroix factory where he assembles inhouse manufacture watches said the "Key" to ALL his work is DON'T SCRATCH THE WATCH ... which you adhere to by working slowly & carefully, & as you say a Toothpick tool doesn't scratch metal. Major Jim, USMC
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim. $5 to replace batteries - is that for labour alone or does it also include the cost of the battery/batteries? If it's the latter then it's an *absolute bargain* I have to say! Even if it's the former, that would still be a great price by Aussie standards.
@jamessantana20717 жыл бұрын
Hello, the five dollars includes everything as they use regular batteries (Not the top of the line Mercedes Superman last forever batteries you order) so for five dollars you get everything & this price is pretty standard everywhere here with batteries lasting two to three years. Major Jim

Remarkable... That's capitalist market forces for you! My Casio Pathfinder PAG40 has *five* batteries which cost around USD20 equivalent to replace in Malaysia. Prices in developing countries generally being cheaper I wonder how much it would cost to do this in the US...??

Does it matter which way around the battery is orientated? Thanks, james
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Hi James, yes for this watch (and pretty much every watch I've seen) the positive pole faces the front (dial) of the watch. In terms of rotational orientation, no that does *not* matter for all types of button batteries. Cheers, Ivan.

It looks like the plus side was facing the back. The side with the battery number has a plus sign. Confused..

where i live i take my watches to a place they replace battery and do a pressure test after installing a brand new water seal o ring..if you want one done. every time a watch case is open you cannot be sure its water proof..its a risk you take.
@PerthWAtch5 жыл бұрын
That is correct, it is indeed a risk - in my experience taking care to seat the rubber seal well has been successful for me. Cheers!

Is this the fullsize 3000? im pissed i bought a "full-size" 3000 ref 937.406 on ebay and it just came and its tiny! what happened
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Yes I believe so, the "full size" is 38mm case diameter. Remember back then a 40mm watch was considered rather large, and many watches were 36-38mm. As a rule I find it better to stick to objective measures (38mm is 38mm) rather than subjective descriptors (one man's large is another's medium!).

Perth WAtch ahhh yes I should have known (I’m 25). Did Tag Heuer make any classic Watches over 40mm? I love their vintage watches I just need something larger
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Over 40mm? That might be doubtful, but I'm not really an expert on the matter... You could posting on a good forum and see if you get any leads - I recommend WUS. All the best!

Perhaps the link to the eBay seller. I just don't know if eBay sellers are legit or not.
@PerthWAtch7 жыл бұрын
Hi there - good point! Here's the seller's eBay store: stores.ebay.com.au/decolectrix/ I think as a rule, look for high seller feedback score (say 10,000+ with >99% positive rate), and pay with PayPal (the buyer protection is nearly ironclad) - I think I might do an eBay buying tips video sometime! Cheers, Ivan.
