Thanks for posting Buddy!! Everything thing went according to the plan thanks to this video. The mechanic wanted $345 for this job. Cost me $20 for a new belt. It's amazing what replacing an old belt can do. I took her out and she ran like a Champ!!

Hello! I'm after some advice! Changed the three pulleys for new on the boxster. 20 minutes of driving they began to rumble... stripped down, took them back for a refund. Sebro and had different, cheap looking bearings. I went old school and purchased three replacement bearings for the FAG 800919b ones. The new were also FAG and the correct deep groove 6203-2RSR C3 and parts were cross referenced by a bearing supplier. Old bearings pressed out and new ones pressed in, all good so far. Put back together, thread lock, torqued up bolts and all good (re-used the old belt though and will pick one up asap). I went for a drive yesterday lunchtime, gentle drive into the countryside and on the way back....rumble smooth then a bit more rumble and as I'm nearly home its bloody rumbling!! Am I missing something? As will be the third time I be stripping it down

Excellent, once again. Quick question, when I had the belt changed last year, afterwards, I noticed a very very small “play” with the water pump pulley. Very little however. It rolls fine. Did you notice the same? The belt was changed by a Porsche mechanic and he also changed a few pulleys and the alternator. But never said anything about the water pump going bad. I just checked his work after and that is when I noticed the very small “play/mouvement” with the water pump pulley. Hence my question.
@HelpMeDIY4 жыл бұрын
First, thank you 🙏. About the play in the water pump,,, if it hasn’t been changed before and you are over 60,000 miles then it may be likely it’s ready to be changed. They are a point of failure after a while. Mine was changed as a precautionary measure when I had to change the coolant tank. It’s fairly easy and recommended preventative maintenance when you find a potential issue or are doing something related anyway.

Hi thank you for a great video. My 986 boxter s makes a squeaking noise only at cold start. What can it be pulley belt?

What do I do if my tensioner pulley must keeps spinning and not releasing enough tension. I can't get the belt on because of that and I've been stuck trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance!

@@HelpMeDIY wow, that was a quick response for a 2-year old vid lol, thanks! I ended up figuring it out, luckily. There's a 15mm head on the other side of the 24mm one. I got a stubby 15mm wrench and tightened it as much as I could. That seemed to have tightened the pulley because it was able to release enough tension after that!
