Brilliant, perfectly illustrates why cat thieves don’t go for VW Golf Mk5’s and Mk6’s. That would be impossible to cut out without a lot of effort. Certainly not like Prius and Hondas where you can make two quick cuts with an angle grinder, off and away.

I do auto emissions inspections, and we are required to visually see all cats. Had to kick a GTI because there is no way to visually see that cat without removing a cover and getting underneath the car

It amuses me how easily all the bolts undo. This may look easy, but you are a broken bolt away from an absolute nightmare of a job. I went to change brake pads on my Benz, and thanks to a seized caliper pin the car was off the road for three weeks while I had the calipers fixed. Luckily I had access to another vehicle.
