I’m 70 and will fix old equipment if the parts available. Nothing beats old equipment in quality. Great video

I was just thinking how much easier this one was compared to the Rheem video when you mentioned it, lol. For some reason I have been enamoured with package unit videos this year. Thanks, very entertaining!

I enjoyed the video. I own my own hvac service and repair in central nc. Im service and repair only. I work on many systems older than 15 years old. And your correct the older systems were built to last. Some companies around here wont even mess with a system 16+ year old system. I get alot of second opinion calls and ive fixed a few that other companies have condemned. I mostly work on oil furnaces, heat pumps and some gas systems.

I have one for you… 02/87, a Lennox split system. Works better than any other unit I’ve came across

In large commercial environments they always want to repair the units. The smaller units are a lot harder than the larger ones. A friend of mine and I had a race changing two of the same style Trane heat exchangers side by side. I won but we did it in about fifteen minutes. They were very large units. I don’t remember what size.

I've got a aunt that has a 2002 model American standard 2.5 ton gas pack just like it she has never even had to top raised or nothing and it's STILL going like the energizer bunny she's never even serviced anything no coil cleaning at all . SO YES KEEP THE OLD STUFF RUNNING IF ALL POSSIBLE.
@donrummerfield290311 ай бұрын
that's a big job and if you like to do it go for it me maybe not it depends on how much work I got ❤

Don't make em like they used to. I could get a 2 ton Goodman for about a grand, but I don't think it would last 27 years. Replacing a furnace is no small job either. Are outdoor units easier to replace the exchanger?

I would be curious as to what the gas pressure was Also what was the fuel choice propane or natural gas?

Hey, you're restricted to what the customer wants.. My question is do heat exchangers last loner on units that are inside the structure vs the ones that are on these outside packaged units?
@TaddyDigest11 ай бұрын
good question I think furnaces last longer

Kind of wished I'd replaced mine on my duel fuel American Standard unit that was 18 years old. 6 years after replacing unit 1300 dollars of work to replace coil on new unit. 😢 Oh well Thanks for the video

Makes you wonder when a manufacturer will stop making parts. I rather have parts replaced in stead of just trashing equipment that’s still very usable.
