Ran across this video the other day. I ordered the electronic ignition as a final attempt to save an old Stihl 028 WB. It worked like a charm. Hopefully I can get another 40 years of service out of this saw. Thanks so much for the video!

I just finished replacing the old points coil with the new electronic ignition coil, the saw started right up and ran great. Next test is to put the saw to work and see how she runs through the cutting process. Thanks for the part and the video.

HELLO YES LEAVE THE POINTS IN, UNHOOK THE WIRE FROM THE COIL THAT GOES TO THE POINTS AND INSTALL THE WIRE FROM THE CHIP TO THE COIL TERMINAL THAT DID GO TO THE POINTS. THANKS LEE

What about the difference in timing? The flywheel for the electronic ignition is different than the points type and has different timing doesn't it?

Yes. About 2 degrees different. Unless you change out the flywheel, the saw will run hot

I have 032AV ELECTRONIC, Is there a replacement coil for it as it does not have points rather it had seal trigger module.

Lee, I just purchased this coil from your store for my 028. Are there just 2 wires connected to the coil? Switch wire and spark plug wire? No other ground wires?

Hey did you figure this out ? I have a Stihl 028 same exact saw here. I'm very curious if it's literally just the Killswitch to the coil and spark plug cable...... Im wondering about a ground myself?

Replaced the coil and made connections properly and no spark still. No I didn't purchase the coil from you. It's a NOS part straight out of the box. Could this be a flywheel issue?

question i did like you said to test spark but cant tell if i get a good spark or not can you peak and let me know what you think its a pollan chainsaw with drill sparking it video on my page can you peek i am stuck

Please show how to do this for an Stihl 031AV. I can not figure out what all needs to come off to get to it or if I have to split open the tank or if I can avoid that.
