Well, that’s the ghetto version. Most of these kits come with the spark plug boot already connected. Doing this job with a real kit is a lot more complicated.

Mine is similar. Problem is, it won't turn the spring.

Thank you, Lee Smith. A couple of lessons learnt from my side. 1. As noted by others, the U part stays in your hand when pushing the line through the hole in the tank. 2. Push the seal in from the tank side. Doing so is good because coming from the other side will drag dirt into the tank and also because the spring assemblies on the other side get in the way if you do it the other way around. 3. Push the seal all the way through, then pull it back to seal. The flat top side makes it difficult to seat pushing it home from the tank side. Easier to seat it bringing it back in. 4. Set the square tabs on the side away from you. Not so far that you can’t see them. Set them and push the line over against them to complete seating from the upper side. 5. Use a smallish flat screwdriver to gently ease the rest of the seal in place. Pulling it hard from the top side will result only in frustration. It is a delicate exercise, using the screwdriver and you finger to seat the seal. The gap in the video is the missing footage of this struggle. There is no pop, only the leak of fuel out of the seal if you fail. Set it on the back side, then ease the rest into line.

021 air filter - make sure you get a Stihl air filter for the 021 because a lot of the aftermarket air filters are a little to tall to allow the air filter cover to fit on the saw, correctly.

Nobody wants to have to strip the boot off, and those Chinese repro ignitions are shit. I just wasted hours with one. Yeah they're $13 on ebay but the one I got didn't work or put out intermittent spark. Take the saw apart to change the ignition. Pulling off the boot only causes headaches.😢

Ran across this video the other day. I ordered the electronic ignition as a final attempt to save an old Stihl 028 WB. It worked like a charm. Hopefully I can get another 40 years of service out of this saw. Thanks so much for the video!

I use Bosch in all of my chainsaws - WSR6F, gapped .020. You should put a new fuel filter on the saw, as a part of any tuneup.

Sorry, but folks need to know that you have installed this fuel line "backwards" and "upside -down". End for end, it is backwards. The short curvy end goes inside the fuel tank. Also, not that it matters with it installed wrong, but there is a certain orientation that is desired and can be determined by the flat side of the grommet. Sometimes the "obvious" is not really as obvious as it seems.

I have 032AV ELECTRONIC, Is there a replacement coil for it as it does not have points rather it had seal trigger module.

I followed end-to-end. I'm a rookie and this worked 100% after following Lee's instructions. The chainsaw fired immediately. Thanks Lee

very nice upgrade. * I wonder why the star drive in the first place(?) seems like a lot to maintain or replace? maybe there is a good reason for them? I like the rim sprocket - easy to get, comes in assorted sizes,easy to change out when its worn too. just needs the one part. 🙂

Those plug boots are a pitas. Everytime I tryin pull mine off my plug the boot comes off,but the spring stays on the plug and you cant get it lined back up. I usually get frustrated and just leave it off,wrapping a little black tape around the spring and wire. It works,but I always worry about a fire if fuel gets spilled.

Tip the damn saw up so WE can see everything you're making this video about

DON'T. those ignition modules are crap. no module can have correct timing for everything and THEY ALL pack up after many issues.

Find any parts diagram and you will see that this video shows how to install the fuel line BACKWARDS

I have an older stihl saw I bought used. I had run it 4 or 5 hours when it quit. I took it to a stihl dealer. When I got it back he said that someone had changed over to electronic ignition, and the chip had failed. He showed me a one prong chrome looking chip. I took the saw home and after cutting for just 1/2 hour, it quit again. When I took the cover off to check the chip, it was a bigger two prong chip that he had put in. Can you explain this to me? You said nothing about tuning, which includes adjusting the three carb screws. The camera angle was very poor as it hid all the actual operations. Next time please: - use a camera angle that allow us to see how you lever off the air filter - advise how to decide whether the air filter needs replacing or can be cleaned -use a camera angle that shows how to lift off the guard behind the air filter. It is not obvious. - tell us what socket size is needed to remove the spark plug - advise how to decide whether the spark plug needs replacing, including measuring its resistance (9K to 10K for NGK BPMR7A), maybe checking the gap setting (0.020" or 0.5mm). - advise that if can't get the cover back on the air filter probably isn't seated correctly. - advise that for an actual tuneup you need to know the speed the engine is running. For this you probably need to use a tachometer with a cable wrapped around the plug lead, so this needs to be done before re-attaching the lead. -then move on to tuning the carb High speed, Low speed and Choke screws.
