My dude! Thank you so much! The rear shocks on my 97 Avalon have been going out for months, and I think they're pretty much *done.* Husband was like, we can't do that, I don't want to get under the car while it's on jack stands, we should have a professional do it, etc, but this looks do-able, especially with some adult (aka more experienced) supervision. I'm gonna guess the 96 and 97 are about the same. Also, I'm terrified of what we're gonna find when we take that seat out! LOL

If you don’t have an impact wrench good luck getting bottom shock bolt. Finally took car to mechanic which was a bummer since the job was within my skill set.
@Will_Perla4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear. Yes those are easily removed with an impact wrench. If you don’t have access to air I would advice a battery impact. Maybe find a reasonably priced one on Marketplace.

Thanks for the upload Will! Do you know what causes the noise in the strut? It's just a shock absorber and a coil spring as far as I can tell.
@Will_Perla6 жыл бұрын
Good question. Honestly I was expecting them to be severely damaged going from the noise. All I found was the rubber was falling off on top where the shock and spring meet. I’m guessing that’s what caused the noise the shock making contact with the spring.

@@Will_Perla Thanks for the reply! As far as the increased ride height goes, the diameter of the new coils may be thicker that the coil diameter of your original one's. Scotty Kilmer has a video about this. He says it also causes a harsher ride too. Might be worth a look, if you're interested? Take care!

@@Will_Perla Thanks! I have a 95 Avalon, this should fit correct? As they are the same vehicle essentially?
@Will_Perla6 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t look like it according to Amazon. Not sure what the difference is but you can enter your car year make and model and it’ll show you which ones fit.
