I have a 2016. Why did you replace the belt? I get a very slight squeal at startup. Wonder if I need to replace it.

@@daveyboysmith4575 my 2011 is squealing for about 2 seconds on a cold start too. It doesn't squeal when starting after it's been driven. I think for the price of the new belt I'll get a new one and see if it goes away.

Just did this job this morning to combat an intermittent squeaking sound. Easy. All accessory pullies were snug and spun freely but my tension arm pully had some movement but still spun freely. Might need to replace that sometime soon. I also had a coolant leak coming from the vehicle heater core input manifold. I'm in Florida so I did a triple bypass using less than $20 in parts. All good now and 220k plus mileage looking to get to 300k by the end of 2022.

second time mine popped off !!! the remote start l, starts the truck, runs for a few seconds then shuts off. starts it again, run for a few, and shuts off. this would go on as long as there’s gas in the tank. this time it was raining and i had an appointment…you can imagine the choice words i was using to describe the situation and how i felt LOL WHY does it pop off if the tensioner pulley is good with no bearings wobble, movement, or side to side action ??? yes the belt is new after the first time it happened. any ideas other than don’t buy a nissan ?

Great video, 2 questions: 1. How difficult 1-10 scale for a novice home mechanic. 2. If my AC has gone out, and then 2 months later I'm begging to get some squeal, does this indicate theres more going on than just the belt (am I wasting my time by doing the belt only for now, until I have time/money to address the AC)?

Got in an accident and there seemed to be no contract with the belt, yet the belt broke. I just changed the belt , but now the frontier won't start. Take the belt off and it does start and engine runs. Come to find out the alternator pulley is not turning clockwise as it should with the belt. Why isn't it turning? Shouldn't it be able to turn just like all the other pulleys? Is it seized?

Quick question; no pulleys need replacing on this vehicle? I changed the serp belt on a 325Ci and not to far down the road a pulley went out and did did $1,500 worth of damage. I was told by repair shop that pulleys are recommended at the same time as replacing the belt. What say you the Xterra?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 5 жыл бұрын
Joe Gutierrez Sorry your BMW went through that. I would say just depends on the car and manufacture. Some are known for having bad pulleys and some having bullet proof ones. But if you error on the cautious side and replace them you for sure are going to be safe. Thank you for watching!

I'll be back, I use to have a repair shop in the early 90's but walked away for a genuine interest in life :) I have never touched my truck LOL until now. When i opened the hood, boy have they changed... a bit :) I do drones and just started adding the Xterra in the mix (non-boring I hope), swing by the channel. If you like, return the love! Have a great short WEEK!!
