I am just reiterating what a lot of viewers have already said. your step-by-step is so clear and easy to follow and your video is so easy to watch, awesome camera angles and not shaking at all! one of the best I have seen on KZbin. extremely helpful in saving us hundreds of $$ for sure. thank you for taking your time doing this and uploading this awesome video. I have a 2013 Sonata also and I will most definitely refer back to your video when it's time to replace the starter. again, thank you, sir! most definitely liked and subscribed!!!!

As many of the other comments have stated, your insights on how to install this particular starter from the bottom was a Godsend! I guess the manufacturer recommends taking off multiple parts including the intake. What a hassle! Watching so many KZbin videos on the 2010-2015 Kia/Hyundai 2.4L starter replacements and then stumbling upon yours was fortuitous to say the least. Like many others, I too say, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

I replaced the starter on my 2013 Sonata over the weekend. This is a really helpful video. I did open the top components to easily get to the bolts of the starter. I couldn't do it from under.
@nicholas_scott2 жыл бұрын
My 2010 2.4 was setup different. The throttle body was in the way, so the starter bolts could not be accessed from below, and the oil filter was in a different location. I used the "top method", but DID NOT have to remove the intake. I -only- removed the air filter hose, and I could then access the starter bolts. They are hard to find, but once you locate them, they are easy to remove. Then it dropped below. I also removed that plate below the intake and the starter dropped down enough to access the wiring. This method is still way, way easier the those who insist on removing the intake, coolant lines, fuel lines, wiring harness, vac lines, etc. That method is madness.
@marcsmith38812 жыл бұрын
I use that method for all of them. Once the throttle body is out, I can easily reach everything.

Worked for my 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.4L, and I have very little experience. 1. Hardest part was getting my car up on jack stands. 2. I needed both short and longer sockets to reach everything. 3. I also took out the triangular metal bracket (4x12mm bolts) to get more room.

You can do this from the top on the older body 2009s (I haven’t looked at newer body 2009 and up) Pull air box plastic intake, pull air box to throttle hose, take 2 screws out of cooling fan assembly and lift that out… should provide easier access to do it from top without pulling all that plastic underbody crap.

You don't need to jack the car up. You don't need to touch that bracket. The cable and wire connector can easily be reached from up top, and the starter easily clears that bracket.

@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I would just sugest taking the starter out and checking the thread in question. If it is good then , it is just an alignment issue. Try pushing up on the back of the starter, wiggle it while threading the bolt etc. Thanks for the feedback.
