@@benten6301 your right.. it did end up being more as of two days ago actually. The cooling fan went out, along with the water pump. If you're experiencing those type symptoms definitely get to a shop where they can check it out. Our's finished breaking down while we were trying to Evacuate Hurricane Dorian.. been a nightmare two days. We found a good mechanic that fit us right in.

Wow. I found out the coolant were low and no leaks so I top it and went for a ride the. I top off with coolant again. I think it should be alright going forward. Good luck with Dorian coming down in your area. Take care. Thanks for the response.

perfect video for what i need! I couldn't figure out where the leak was on my wife's 2003 Sequoia until i pressure tested it and found the leak at the o-ring on the housing. When it was cold out (0F) it would leak and when warm out (32F +) it wouldn't. The expansion of the o-ring in the varying temps was throwing me off. Housing is the same and process is relatively the same for the o-ring replacement. Won't bother with the thermostat, but will pull the whole thing off in any case to do it right when it comes to cleaning and new RTV for the housing. Do you know what the torque specs are for the bolts?

This seems to be exactly my issue on my GX470. Finally found it... Always happened when cold on mine as well!

Same, only happens when cold. Thankfully it doesn’t leak when driving.

Great info brother! Im not sure if its my Thermostat or not. I got the bubbles out the system and checked the hoses etc. I will say before it starts to overheats from being on for about 10 minutes i checked both hoses and the big one going from thermostat to thr radiator is hot while the one coming out of the thermostats other side is still cold. Does thst mean its a thermostat problem? thanks

nofd1977 sounds like the thermostat is stuck closed.So pretty common for them to be stuck on this particular model. It’s only three nuts and it pops off.

Question: When you removed the upper radiator at 1:10 how much coolant do you expect to leak out? I'm planning to just replace the hose clamp with an OEM as I noticed there is coolant formation where hose meets thermostat housing and once in a while after driving I get out the vehicle and I smell coolant but there is no leaking on the ground. So once again how much coolant should I expect to leak out as I'd rather not drain the coolant completely from radiator as some people have said that I need to do. Thank you

I don’t know where my coolant is going. Temp gets hot then goes back to half. Up and down constantly. I don’t see any leaks but I have to constantly add coolant. When I turn it off, the coolant in the reservoir is bubbling like crazy. Could this be a thermostat issue? No water in the oil or anywhere else for that matter.
@HowtoAutomotive3 жыл бұрын
It’s a cool is low it is leaking somewhere. It’s possible the radiator cap is self is the cars. Also a thermostat in stock will cause overheating that could cause it to overflow out of the reservoir.

My brother. You should do a video on a gx470 radiator replacement. With the coolant drain from the radiator and the engine. There's no good video tutorials on this. They're all terrible. Please!

For the Portion where the silicone goes there is no gasket. From the factory it is silicone

@@HowtoAutomotive This was an awesome video, same exact engine. Every morning when I look under the GX on the passenger side I see a small puddle of coolant but I never actually see it leaking when the engine is running. So some one wrote that he had the same exact problem and that the O-ring for the housing expands when the engine is hot and then when it cools off the next day as it shrinks it will leak, so this is why I never see it leaking. I sure hope that's the problem since you made this repair seem so easy! I will go to Auto zone and do a pressure test to make sure. Thank-you!

Wait till you have to replace the starter.
@brianf215 Жыл бұрын
The alternator is in a terrible spot, the starter is impossible to get to, and then there's the timing belt and water pump (which I won't do myself). Other than that, they aren't too bad.
