Great video. Easy to follow. One HUGE tip. You didn't have to remove the hoses for the Power steering reservoir. All you had to do is remove the 2 nuts holding the reservoir to the bracket and move it aside. Then just bent the bracket outwards to get access to the One Valve cover bolt hidden under the cover protector. That's all. Then once the valve cover is reinstalled just straighten the bracket back to it's original position. Done. Again, great viceo. Very well put together.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I just got done doing the same job on my wife’s ‘08 Acadia, and I couldn’t have done it without your guidance. I found that I didn’t have to remove the motor mount. Also I removed the smaller front hose from the power steering reservoir and capped it off while I suspended the reservoir from the windshield wiper with a small bungee cord. Then I just removed one bolt from that bracket the PS reservoir was bolted two and rotated it forward. After bleeding the PS system when I finished, and discovering I forgot one wire connection and the rubber nubby thing that goes vacuum port on the back of the intake manifold fell off, she’s back on the road!

If you spray PB Blaster, on connections like that it'll loosen and lube them up and then they'll come right off, if you have time to let them soak a little while.... I even use PB Blaster on stubborn electrical plugs, to get them apart.. I just use PB Blaster on a BMW thermostat yesterday, where the hoses with the clip that holds them on don't like to come off of it, so I took it soak them and let them sit about a half hour came back and they popped right off. And I do that to prevent breaking anything... Try it, PB Blaster is the truth...

Hey, doing diagnostics of my g/f's 3.6 in her 2008 Vue XR. She drove it, came home, then the next night it cranks but wont start. 200k miles and has had timing codes for awhile. Tested battery, good. Replaced the starter and tested the old, both good. Tested fuel pressure, good. Disassembled down and removed one valve cover. Chain is still connected at least, so not broken. Any ideas? Driving me crazy. Why would it be shut down and work and then all of a sudden not work now?
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I would check for spark and do a compression test . Usually timing codes popping up is not a good sign , but I would check the basics and go from there. Thanks for the feedback.

@@s33therfan I have seen a fix for the pcv valve going around in the camaro community with the 3.6. They are installing an oil catch can and then drilling the 2 holes on the bottom to 5/64th's and the single top hole to 7/64th's. Also helps the motor breathe better to help with timing issues and sludge build up down the line

@s33therfan3 жыл бұрын
amzn.to/38L5h8u Other than a engine flush , there is not much that can be done without a total rebuild. The problem is even if you get the cylinder heads spotless you still have all the passage ways and the lower end as well. I do believe several flushes and keeping the oil changed can help. Another area of concern is making sure the hoses and spouts coming off the valve cover are cleaned and allowing vacuum. Hope this helps , thank you for the feedback.

I had a little misadventure with the heater inlet assembly snapping at the junction, the coupling was made of plastic and had gotten brittle and didn't take much to break it. I broke it while trying to get some room over the back right valve cover bolt. That halted progress for a week while I waited to get the new one in which has an aluminum coupling, so it should be good there. I'll have to replace the outlet assembly down the road, they're about $100 apiece and the way they're made, they have quick release clips except for the one hose that connects to the heater core. I only broke one so I replaced one. While this was going on, I had the alternator give out on my car so I got derailed to replace that, which is an 03 matrix xrs. I got both valve covers on now but i'm in the process of cleaning the surfaces of the upper and lower intake. I was using scotch brite pads but noticed a lot of debris coming off from the pad so I switched to a dremel with a soft brush attachment and then took some brake cleaner and shop towels to clean the surface. I had go stop when the dremel battery died, plus it was already dark outside so I get back at it today before I head to work

@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
These were not leaking and as a matter fact all of these I have worked on have not been leaking. However once they are disturbed/removed they can and will leak. Other than that these engines actually seem to be sealed up fairly well , that is atleast one good thing. Thanks for the feedback.
@robgracia5092 жыл бұрын
What do you think is leaking it's on the back side of motor
@robgracia5092 жыл бұрын
It's not in the front of motor
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
It most likely is the valve cover . Try if possible to reach back and feel with your hand and if theres oil then that is the culprit. Another area is where the vvt solenoid come through the valve cover ; check those for leaks. Those seals can be replaced without removing the valve cover. Hope this helps.
