I thoroughly enjoy working on my Toyota, it’s like they designed it to be fixed, easily and not be a fight.

In a world of long-winded KZbinrs who love hearing themselves talk, you sir, are a breath of fresh air. Most are very knowledgeable but take an hour to explain how to do an oil change.

Awesome thank you for the video. I did that, i'm about to torque the axle nut, but i put anti seize on the splind, was it a bad idea? Should i remove it and put some grease before sealing the deal with this jobe or anti seize is good? Thanks for the help

No it'll be fine. And glad to hear the video was helpful

How did you decide to just replace the boot and grease rather than replace the entire cv?
@NNKH2 Жыл бұрын
I used to work at a shop and I have found that the aftermarket CV axles can be a dice roll. Sometimes they're junk sometimes they're fine. Would much rather stick with the OEM parts when possible. And the OEM boots last much longer. The aftermarket ones dry rot and crack very quickly sometimes

Could you slap flex seal tape on a little tear? I have a 2017 tacoma don’t want to start replacing then f it up. Shop just said they would have to get the whole new cv axel and couldn’t just get a boot to replace which was a lie

If the gear oil keeps on flowing or you want to minimize spillage, jack the car higher in the side you’re working on if you got both sides up 😂

My outer boot is torn. Is it feasable to leave the axle in place, unbolt the hub and move it to replace the outer boot only? Id I dont have to remove it from the diff and lose diff fluid that seems better.
@NNKH2 Жыл бұрын
To be honest I forget. On some CV axles you have to go from the inner side

I need to replace just the outer cv boots but I can’t get the outer cv joint disconnected even after removing the C-clip. Is it even possible to remove the outer joint? Is there second c-clip? I really don’t want to disassemble the inner joint, which I’ll have to get more grease and new clamps, just to replace the outer boots.

I couldnt imagine how frustrating your job is with using a lot of these Chinese parts, I had to change a rack twice in six months on my civic from poor rebuilt parts.
@jeffcustrin57972 жыл бұрын
i replaced 3 in 2 mths . Quality is bad but seems more from rebuilt stuff done in my area i once put 2 rebuilt starters on a vehicle and ended up putting a new one built in china with no problems go figure

I have my axle out, my old boot off, and my snap ring spread, but the axle end will not separate. I even got the snap ring completely out of the way backed up to the middle of the shaft. There is something very solid feeling blocking the outer axle end from sliding off. Help! Any ideas?
