Thank you for sharing this. This is an environmental issue. We are throwing perfectly working devices into the landfill when they simply could be used again if we just replace the battery. I don't have all this equipment and expertise. I don't intend to do it myself. But if the battery in my headphones is not working as expected anymore, then I know that this is an option now. I'll just go to my local repair technician and ask them if they can do something like this.

Cheap soldering irons can be picked up for peanuts these days, and basic soldering isn't really a very hard skill to learn. I'd recommend anyone who's even the remotest bit interested in trying to fix their own electronics to just pick one up (and a small roll of lead based flux core solder*) and giving it a go. The first time you use it to reconnect or replace a broken wire rather than taking a device to a repair centre, the iron and solder will have paid for itself. It's just one more simple to learn skill that will save you money, AND give you a real world sense of achievement (Something sadly lacking in many peoples modern way of life). You'd be amazed at how many quite expensive pieces of electronic equipment have soldered in batteries these days (Most laptops now haven't even got "User replaceable" battery packs), so being able to assemble and replace custom battery packs is going to become a more and more usefull skill to have. (* A law was passed in several counties a while ago outlawing the use of lead based solder in manufacturing or commercial repairs. Because of this, lead free solder was developed, but it's horrible to use and isn't particularly beginner friendly. Lead based is the only way to go for a learner)
@tropezando9 ай бұрын
@@Reman1975Was that ROHS? In 2006-07, I worked in a factory that made printed circuit boards, but on the office end of things. My brothers worked in printing and in plating. I remember everyone who worked the HASL machine and the people who soldered components *despised* the lead-free product, and there were quite a few months of figuring out how to make boards come out decently with it.
@Reman19759 ай бұрын
@@tropezando I've tried several different brands of lead free solder, and I've yet to find one that isn't truly awful stuff to use. Regardless of what additional fluxes I've tried, the stuff doesn't want to flow into joints like leaded stuff does. With practice you can get functional solder joints with lead free stuff, but it's significantly harder to get a professional looking result using it. I find myself lingering on every solder joint as I try to get it to "look right", but eventually the only criteria is "Is it holding the component securely? Is it conducting electric? Then it's soldered well enough !". If you're doing soldering work commercially, then UK law says you need to be using lead free solder, but for repairing/modifying/building your own stuff it's still perfectly legal to use leaded. It's easier to learn, and you can do the joints quicker with better results, so for hobby use, it's leaded every time for me now.

Great video. I just swapped the lithium battery in a set of BT300 headphones (Big Lots, $20). They wouldn't charge, the LED light wouldn't even turn on. After opening them up as you describe at :41, the rest was easy. The old battery was "puffy," so it was definitely dead. I'm not comfortable soldering on the circuit board, so I just cut and stripped the wires to solder them to the new battery wires. A little electrical tape, and tucked it all in. Back in service! The battery was HL602025 3.7V, (might also be PL602025 or LP602025). Amazon had a "Liter Energy Battery 3.7V Lipo Battery 300mAh Rechargeable Lithium ion Polymer Battery 702025 Lithium Polymer ion Battery", $9.99, next day delivery.

This battery ali.pub/4s9c6x will definitely work you just need to swap the wires with connector. If you want higher capacity battery then give me dimensions of the internal space for the battery in your headphones.
@obidullahjamy6701 Жыл бұрын
I tried swapping the swallon battery from my working headphone (the only problem was low charge backup) with a same voltage lithiam battery. but the Bluetooth connects with buzz and no music comes out. also the PCB ends up real hot that I had to turn off the headphone. However the headphone works just fine with connected to wall socket and no warm up issue is faced this time.

could I just snip the cable coming from the old battery and install a plug for easy replacement in the future? and then add the other plug to the new battery. i'm not particularly confident on my ability to cleanly solder onto the board. so i could just crimp the connectors onto the wires already soldered to the board, and also add connectors to the wires on the new battery

Most likely you'll never find an original battery. Moreover all earbuds are not designed to be serviced. They are glued together and after you open them up they will look ugly. If you manage to open them carefully, you can send me the picture of that battery and I'll give you the links to that battery.

@ElectronicsComputers Жыл бұрын
If those were new headphones, then I wouldn't do that. But considering the fact that they are already faulty you can do whatever you want with them. Most likely you need to replace the battery to make them work properly.

@ElectronicsComputers2 жыл бұрын
If one of the speakers doesn't work, then try to connect the audio jack into another ear. If it start to work but another one stop working, then you have to replace the cable that goes from one side to another through the headphones band. It's not an easy process because it requires some soldering skills and you have to completely disassemble your headphones.
