I was taught that you wrap the teflon tape (PTFE tape) the same direction as the nut that gets tightened onto the threads. It looked like you put the teflon tape on the SharkBite backwards. Why not just carry a small pipe cleaner and reamer with you instead of the file on your multi tool?

to cut the pipe i recommend this 48-22-4263 Milwaukee amzn.to/3tThllY cutting with the multitool is the last resource when you have no much pipe left and for seal the connections instead of using teflon tape i would use Pipe Thread Sealant amzn.to/3Qjoe7p it is much better
