I've been the handy-woman for my home for decades and still look to the experts for support and reminders of how to get things done. I like your style and appreciate your experience. You're one of a kind! Thanks for the video!

Thanks Dino! Your brass faucet rebuild video helped me do mine. Your comments on the dangers of removal of "residual debris upon disassembly" proved of great value. Followed your leads and advice, and my wife even thinks I'm smart. lol Again; many thanks!

Aww Thanks for helping me. A Plummer came to my house and said it would be $1500.00 to replace my brass faucets in my slop sink. He didn’t say anything about trying to change washers. My house was built in 1980’s. Anyway, the faucet is leaking hot water and will not turn off all the way. So I said no thanks. My faucet is still leaking. Now I know what to expect and ask for when I get a new Plummer. Thanks!

Just did mine and no more leaking. Bought a 96 piece kit for 9:00 dollars. The old washers were hard as a rock. The bibb screws were in good condition. Tried the different washers from the kit moving up in size until I thought I had the right size. Then I remembered you said to try one size higher just in case and glad I did because that one fit snug. Thank you.

Thanks for devoting time to helping everyone out!! I have been learning about plumbing for 50+ years!! On my Slop Sink Faucet, I believe the best washer is a Neoprene extra thick washer. Finding one? Still looking. The regular size ones cause problems. The beveled ones cause the faucet to "Scream" when opened.

Thank you for confirming! My next fear is going to the big box store since small places with people who know what they are talking about are gone. In fact people like Pro Dino are gone. Who nowadays teaches details like covering drain to not lose things? Who knows how to do these things anymore? Thank you Dino for passing along your trade skills! It's so sad that these are gone, nowadays, the panicked homeowner will pay someone $100 to install the Chinese faucet they purchased from Costco and it'll last 6 months, not 60 years. I want to go back in time.

Thanks for your help and time making this video! The hot water valve was pumping like you mentioned in your video and today it completely failed to shut off completely. I removed the stem, used a little WD40 to loosen it. I needed the whole stem I had some threads that were slivering off. Went to Lowes and the whole stem, o-rings and all, already assembled was $7.50. Put some plumbers tape on the threads, the washer that came with it and the laundry sink hot water valve works like new. Bought a cold water stem too in case that gives me trouble in the future. Thanks again.

Most of these laundry tub faucets are Gerber brand. The cold uses a 1B-2C valve assembly. The hot uses a a 1B-2H assembly. They are about $7 dollars apiece. I just replaced both valve assemblies and they work great..

Thanks for posting. I replaced the washers which helped. My house is about 50 years old (Chicago burbs). The shaft splines are worn and no longer grip the faucet handles. Handle slips and I can't shut completely off unless I use vise-grips. I tried a handle kit with set-screws - but that slips as well. These stem assemblies are no longer made?

Thanks for your great instructions. I had trouble getting the stem back in so I had to unwind the handles to force the o-ring into the hole before the cap would engage the threads. Once it started in the threads by hand I was able to tighten the cap back on. The only problem now is that the stem leaks when the water is running but not when the faucet is shut off. Do you think the o-ring is the source of this problem? Also, the handles do not line up and I can not get them to come off to line them up properly. Is there some way to free them up? I was thinking some liquid wrench rust remover would be good but they don't look rusty. Is there another technique to use?

Very helpful. I just fixed my faucet following your advice. One thing I was unable to do was to get the handles off the stems. Mineral deposits are holding it on. I tried soaking them in Coke, and then I tried soaking them in vinegar. Neither worked. What's the best way to loosen up or dissolve those mineral deposits?

I would try some penetrating oil spray and a hammer with it in a vice. Set it up in the vice and slightly tap the handle different ways. It will come off.

Great video, Dino! Quick question: I have a utility sink with new valves (installed myself). Now when I turn the hot/cold on, water comes out and then stops suddenly with a bang. I have to turn the valves on further to get the water to continue flowing. This happens every time. I'm not sure if this is an airlock. I just drained all pipes in my house and refilled, but this problem continues to occur. Any suggestions?
