Here is a helpful hint to keep the window bolts from falling out of your socket and down inside of the door when re-installing them through a small access hole. Put a small piece of masking tape over the head of the bolt to create a snug fit in the socket. Doing that not only keeps the bolt from falling out of the socket but it also helps to prevent cross threading as the bolt stays straight. Also, keeping a telescoping magnet handy doesn't hurt either.

Agreed 1000% I want to avoided a broken glass and I would have known that I can replace the regulator without any special tools and avoided myself so much grief and stress after I messed up extremely badly

Thanks. My window got stuck all the way down, so it was hard to get the two window bolts off. I got the "hidden" one off easily, but taking off the audio speaker. I got the visible one off by removing the upper 5 bolts on the regulator, and slightly rotating the regulator, which gave me clearance to it off with a socket wrench. A 1/4" breaker bar might have easily removed the hidden bolt.

Hi! I own a Corolla 2003 with manual windows, do you think its possible to take the door panel and electric window system from a wrecking car and putting them into mine? Maybe getting a conversion kit would be easier? I like having the original door panel with buttons, and the whole system. Maybe I can get only the button part of the door and use a conversion kit. the bolt that was the last one you did where you lifted it up is the factory bolt to hang the regulator so you can do the bolts up its not damage or been repaired

Really helpful video, appreciate it, I repaired my damaged window, I just needed to fix the plastic under the window glass that joins with a screw the platform of the window regulator and the bottom of the window. The tutorial of disassemble the door was what I needed, keep up the great videos

Thank you. I watched the video prior to getting dirty and it helped. After getting the regulator out, I discovered that it was okay, but the motor needed rebuilding. I returned the new regulator (which did not have a motor; my bad) and exchanged it for a new motor. They required the old motor as a core exchange. Other than a misstep of initially not keeping the window in track, I reassembled everything and it now works. Total cost: $56. Note: I didn't use blue painter's tape as demonstrated in your video, but just the duct tape that I had on hand. As a result, I now need to use GooGone to clean up the residue.

Helpful video, thanks! The rear window on my 04 Corolla just fell into the door. Took the panel off but nothing really seemed wrong with the regulator except that it appeared to be bent a little. Odd that it happened.

You may want to try to reach into the door and pull up on the latch rod with your hand to see if it pops the door open for you.

You might be able to replace them. You may be able to get them at the dealer.

@matt blake samething just happened to my 06 Matrix the window regulator arm was bend from old reason, without being in a accident or anything just wondering if the metal is weak. ordering a replacement for my window now. Sometimes it can be more tricky when this happens. If it's easier to start from the sides somewhere, maybe you could try that and work your way to the bottom.

Thank you for the tip. I ended up having to take the weatherstripping off to loosen the bottom and pull it off from the sides. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it though. The door will not open from either handle and the power locks work fine. Any thoughts? Thanks!

It sounds as if there rubber weatherstripping is holding up the glass or the regulator is bent some how.

The issue i was having on my 06 corolla was my Driver Side window was coming off track. I decided to replace the Power Regulator. Inspected the old regulator (seemed fine, no issues going up or down but decided to replace just to be safe.), inspected the clips on the window (both looked fine, no cracks or signs of damage.) and the only thing I noticed was the lining, alongside the track, was binded in certain spots and split in others, so I decided to replace the inner lining of the track. Done that and the window still falls off track when move towards the up position. What I didn't do was use silicon lube and I hope that's all it is that there is too much friction that is causing the window to be caught at certain sections of the track and get "stuck" then goes off track. Outside of applying silicon lube to the entire track lining is there anything else that I should check for that could be causing the window to come off track? Your help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for the video! For all intents and purposes I now know how to replace the Power Regulator!

Is it possible for the clip on the window to break,my driver's side window will go down toward the mirror which I call front,the back part will go down right as long as I push down on the back edge of glass,if not it comes off track

I have a toyota corolla 2002 T2 model 1.4 vvti three door, on my passenger side window the switch sometimes works but when it does it stops and starts. The switch on the driver side for operating the passenger side window works perfect. Also when it goes half ways down it makes a loud knock noise but only happens when the window is let down and stops, it wont make the same noise unless it has being left alone without moving. What could it be?

My window stops running within a second then stops. It takes a while before it cools off? Then it will move again for a second. Takes 15-20 minutes to get the window back up if I lower the window even a quarter of the way down. Could this be the window regulator? I know its not the switch I tried replacing it and nothing changed. Any suggestions?

Having tinkered with my door, I feel safer using some plastic "S" shaped hooks to prevent the window falling, rather than tape. The "S" shaped hooks (normally to hook over internal house doors to hang coat hangers on, and bought for next to nothing) hook over the inner window sill and loop under the glass, to support it - they just take a little bending to get in place.

Theres a little rivet that holds the gears and the long arm.. Mine keeps shearing or breaking off, almost as if the window suddenly became heavier and the motor struggles to push it up? My button and motor runs smoothly up and down...anybody know why it keeps breaking off?

You may want to see if the cables are jammed, causing the window to be stuck in the up position. If they are once you free them up the should be able to move the window around so that you can access the bolts. +Gerardo You may want to test the switch with a test light or an ohm meter to see if there's power going to and from the switch. That would help you to determine if the switch is bad. Hope this helps you out.
