Sounds like your cable is already broke. When you get everything off, slide the glass back up to where it lines up with the access holes and just unbolt it. I use painters tape to hold it in place, while I'm unbolting it, or a suction cup if you have one.

Very good, let me congratulate you for your excellent videos and explanations, since thanks to them I have fixed several things in my wife's 2003 beetle. But at this point I have changed the cable kit and others of the left rear glass and it is 100% perfect but with 2 details 1° it mounts and hits the driver's front glass at the top and I am really not sure how it is adjusted and 2nd the hood stopped working. Thank you very much in advance for your contributions.

I’m getting ready to do it next weekend man. Any chance you have an insight on why my driver power mirror, puddle light, power door lock and remote lock doesnt light up or work? And the glass is slightly off

No, but check all the fuses and see if another fuse is causing the problem.

Thank you for this but before I go too far, quick question. The driver window goes up in stops and starts and goes back down a little and starts back up. To finally get it most of the way up we have to use the up switch and pull the glass to help it. What do you suspect is wrong in this situation? I don’t want to unnecessarily replace the whole regulator. Thanks.

I replaced the passenger front regulator on my wife's 04 Beetle convertible but now that window doesn't crack open when you open/close the door to allow it to get under the convertible top. It was working fine before the old regulator broke but now its like its not sensing the door being open/closed. Other than that the window operates like it should. Any ideas on how to get the opening/closing function to work?

What had failed on the old regulator? My driver side window on my 2008 bug convertible has come off the regulator and will not move up or down except by hand. I can hear the motor in the door running when I activate the switch. Is a new regulator needed?

No, not able to do those. There is a repair kit for that but very difficult to install.
