I found this video really helpful and put my mind at ease. However when I followed the advice in the video about raising your hand the judge in my case seemed very irritated. I’m sure there are judges that aren’t annoyed by this but thought it was worth noting

Are there any updates on this? Good video but it is 8 years old now and things may have changed? Come to think of it, probably nothing's changed.

This video was so well made. The narrator explained everything calmly and in simple English. Great work. Thank you.

I would give the following advice having been there. 1: keep an accurate diary of interactions with your children. 2 Make videos of your children having a good time when they are with you 3 keep an accurate and honest log of interactions between you and your ex . 4.If you are prevented from picking up your children at a predetermined appointment then video it. Make summaries of this information and present it to your ex and her lawyer when in court. This is all admissible evidence. It is difficult to argue when the factual presentation is good. Children will behave badly at school if their parents get in the way and argue over them. I won custody of my children after 5 years of fighting by being reasonable and precise

I did all this, but the social worker lied anyway and the judge dismissed my medical evidence and i lost contact with my son. It's not over though, i do plan on appealing against them.

I hope your appeal went well. I've just had a similar experience with a social worker who ignored all my safeguarding concerns and even made my children cry by suggesting they don't want to spend time with me. My complaint has been ignored so I now have to fight that in court as well as my original case...

You are beautiful, thank you. But what to do when we are calm, talking politely, yet tears roll our face? Because just by seeing the abusers of my children, makes me cry.

+Star Cat I am glad the film was of some use - but yes, i understand telling people in your situation to 'stay as calm as possible' is a little pointless. I believe Rights of Women are doing some films dealing for court users who are having to face an abuser in court

Hi, do I stand a chance of keeping my kids on a child arrangement order in instead of a SGO when I've been sober 6 months? The only concerns we're my drinking and normal parenting standards high. My parents are taking me to court already had the directions hearing .

To watch your video, which is about a serious matter I am genuinely interested in, I had to sit through a 15 second advert promoting Hull as a holiday destination. This has only reinforced my feelings of dread, and the peculiar but sorry times we currently live in. Hull? Just thought you might like to know what you are promoting.

That is disgusting!! They think they can talk to you like crap and get away with it. But if you are rude to them they will punish you for it and hold it against you.

well I was in court today and had the worth-est experience to say the list after watching this film .. for tips on how to represent yourself in court on family mutter regarding paternity dispute in my case . in this film you mention that you can take friend with you for support .but I was not aloud to have friend with me while inside court. there were about six people altogether and four of them were judges all middle aged, 3 women and one man. the way they grilled me was unfair as I needed someone to help me with most of the grilling to answered questions to why I was in court ...sorry but was not impressed by the system ...due to judges self opinionated comments that were not relevant..in my case.I was very dis-pointed with out come as I'm still going to fight on for Justice and we are going to appeal the decision made these Judges . in what I believe in ..it was nice to watch this film but it didn't help me.

It is your legal right to have representation in the court room. If they deny you that basic right then it is grounds to appeal your absence if you choose not to consent in proceedings without representation.

its nearly possible to represent yourself in court...they will strong arm you everytime. unless you are educated in law and will power plus commitment and are prepared after all this to loose then done even think about it........sit down with your partner with the bitter remains of the relationship and try and come to an agreement wherever possible....put your ego to one side for the children.
