Thank you. This helped out with my spaghetti. I picked up onion salt mistaking it for onion powder, and added as much as I would have if it was the former. It was way too salty. Even adding double the amount of sauce didn't fix it. Adding a little bit of white vinegar gave it a slightly sour, but still very natural taste to it, while knocking off that salty flavor a LOT. Then I added a little brown sugar to reduce some of that sourness and now it is almost perfect. Not quite as much as it would've been had I not screwed up, but still close enough where I don't have to throw out the entire batch now thanks to you

Why would you try to add a pinch of salt by dumping it out of a bowl? You can also add a couple of slices of raw potato to absorb the excess salt.

if have to much salt just add more of the other ingredients that don't have salt in it. like more water and more vegetables or more pasta or more meat just more to balance to food to salt ratio.

But the taste of salt will still be there lemon is key to oversalted dishes

I REALLY wish I would I would have realized that this was talking about brown gravy and not country gravy. I added vinegar to my country gravy and it EXPLODED, literally. Now I have to toss out 3 gallons of country gravy (I work in a small restaurant) and I'm not too happy about that! I guess it's culinary basics 101 to NOT add vinegar to milk. My mistake. Well better get back to mopping up my curdled gravy puddle! :3
