Youre the man bro! Much appreciated, im about to replace the DRL modules on my wifes velar and I wasnt sure how to go about this. I hope my oven is big enough. If not, I can buy 12 new ones for half the price it would cost Range to fix the headlight themselves!

So with the breather patches, when adding them you make the hole 🕳 to the size of the patch installing and they install at the back of the light from the outside of the assembly?
@americantruckeringermany8394 Жыл бұрын
confused, where does the moisture come from if its sealed? i thought there was a hole in my sealant, that's why theres condensation inside the lamp.
@diodedynamics Жыл бұрын
There's a couple different places moisture could get in even if there is no apparent leak in the seal. Connectors, the air vents that all modern headlights have. It could also be the environment change, the same way you have a cold glass of water in the summer, it tends to gather condensation. That's simply the nature of the beast unfortunately.

I have a 2017 Porsche 718 with PDLS headlights which cost £1700 ($2300) each! Both lights get terrible condensation following an accident so they need to be resealed. I’ve searched for a headlight specialist in the UK to try and get them resealed, but can’t find one. Would you recommend trying this process, bearing in mind the cost of each headlight?
@diodedynamics4 жыл бұрын
We always recommend professional installation for any application that requires you to open up your housing. Especially given the cost of your headlights. Give our dealer locator tool a try! We've placed the link below. If that doesn't work to get rid of the condensation, you may also want to try to install a breather patch or two (as seen in the video). www.diodedynamics.com/find-a-dealer
Any thoughts about toxic fumes in a house from heating up the headlights/glue?

Hi there! For installations like this, we recommend taking the headlights to a profession. However, you shouldn't really be releasing toxic fumes unless you are melting the plastic.

How do you clean out the dried butyl in the channels?
@diodedynamics4 жыл бұрын
There are many different techniques to remove the existing butyl, but we recommend heating up the existing resin with a heat gun and using something something soft, like a plastic scraper tool to remove it!

I added after market lights inside my headlights and now the one light fills with fog after I drive the car, I know I have no leaks cuz I have already filled all the cracks, is it because when I put the light together it was raining and humid outside so it is trapped inside the light? That means moisture is getting into the housing somehow. We would recommend installing some breather patches to see if that solves the issue. This will let air flow through the lights without letting in moisture. www.diodedynamics.com/20mm-breather-patch.html

We recommend our Butyl Headlamp Sealand to protect against moisture ingress. This new and improved sealant rope was designed specifically for headlamps, with a firmer composition than auto-store windshield glue. This makes it easy to work with, without causing a sticky mess.
